Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: New Jersey at Oklahoma City (8:00 PM Eastern)

The New Jersey Nets have become more competitive as their offense has improved steadily throughout the season. The Nets were scoring in the 80s or less in 11 of their first 17 games. They have reversed that by scoring 90+ in 11 of their last 17. The problem is that they are allowing over 100 points per game on average in their last 10. Oklahoma City is the most improved team over last year in the NBA. They continue to improve offensively at over 105 ppg in their last 11 on average. They have followed a straight-up win by going over the total in seven of their last eight, and should have no trouble adding to that 105 ppg average against the Nets here, while the Nets get enough to push this one OVER the total.

The Utah Jazz continues to soar as they are now 23-5 in their last 28 games. This is a team that is now playing like Denver and Golden State as they are on their game offensively. The Jazz are averaging just short of 118 points per game over their last six, and over their last 25 have reached the century mark 21 times. The Bucks will try to slow them down, but had no success in recent games vs. Indiana and Atlanta, teams that like to run despite shutting down other teams. The Jazz come in at 35-16-1 to the OVER in their last 52 as a dog as well as 9-1 to the OVER after allowing 100 or more in their last game. The Bucks are 7-9 to the OVER in their last seven vs. the NBA's Northwest. I'll go with the OVER here.

Despite all of the injuries, the Portland Trailblazers are 11 games over .500 for the season, and carry a winning road mark as well. They have taken care of business vs. the under .500 teams on the road, having not lost since mid-January and taking their last five. While the Kings have played much better at home and stand above the .500 mark, it isn't because of what they are doing vs. winning teams. The Kings in their last 15 at home vs. a winning team are 4-11 straight up, so the 1 point here isn't going to get it done. The Blazers are the NBA's best as they are 37-17 ATS off no rest. The Kings are just 8-23 ATS in their last 31 as a dog of up to 4.5. I'll go with Portland here.
