Nba Betting Predictions - March 08, 2008
Tonight we have five picks including a 5-unit play on a game we love...
Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Golden State at Orlando (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Orlando -7 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Warriors have been winning. But against whom? Seattle? Philly? Portland? Charlotte? Miami? Those games have not prepared them for this one against a Magic team that is 40-23 on the season and on their own great run (have won 9 of 11 both SU and ATS). The run-and-gun that Golden State employs works against bad teams, where they simply outscore their weaker competition. But, giving up 107 per game isn't going to cut it against the likes of Orlando. Home teams in a matchup between two teams at 60%+ SU are 31-8 ATS over the past five seasons in March. The Warriors live by the three, making 10 per game. But Orlando can handle that as they are 21-11 ATS this season vs. teams making 6 or more. Golden State is just 26-35 ATS this season when the total is 200 or more. They have scored 105 or more points in 25 straight games. But, that's not a good thing as they are 17-30 ATS this season after scoring 105 or more last game. They are also 12-25 ATS off a win this season. Orlando is 22-10 ATS in games with a total of 200 or more and 20-10 ATS asa a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points. Magic win big here.
Game: Boston at Memphis (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on First Half UNDER 100 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Boston is 37-23 UNDER in the first half this season and 42-25 UNDER as a favorite the past two seasons. When they score 60+ in the first half of their last game, they are 16-4 UNDER in the next game the past twenty. They are 20-11 UNDER this season vs. teamst hat make 6+ three pointers per game and 19-7 UNDER vs. poor defensive teams (those allowing 100+ per game). We see Boston cruising a bit here on offense vs. the lowly Grizz and they will have no problem keeping Memphis scoring down. We like the first-half UNDER here.
Game: New Jersey at Dallas (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Dallas -12 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Mavs are on a three game losing streak, but those losses came to the league's elite in Los Angeles, Utah and Houston. This is a bad spot for the Nets as Dallas will take it out on them here, especially after 19 point beatdown in New Jersey last month. This has been a bad spot for New Jersey anyway. They have lost six of seven ATS as a double-digit dog with five of the seven coming by 16 points or more. They have just not been competitive against better teams period. They are 2-12 ATS as a 7 point dog or higher! They have dropped three straight on this road trip, and four straight overall. Mavericks in a blowout.
Game: Denver at Utah (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 5 units on Utah -6 (-110) (risk 5 to win 4.6)
The Jazz have been a very tough out at home. They are 19-0 at home in their last 19 as a favorite, and to a single digit line they are 14-3 ATS last 17. Denver can beat up on the league's weak teams, with their specatular offense. But they have no defense and as such they have been brutal on the road vs the .500+ teams. They are just 3-11 SU, having lost games by 14, 11, 24, 17, 22, 11, 28, 28 and 26 points. That is 9 of 14 games lost by an average of over 20 ppg! The Jazz are the NBA's hottest home team (27-3 overall here with 17 straight wins). The Jazz have beaten the NUggets 19 out of the last 22 games here. They are 18-9 ATS this season at home vs. winning teams this season and 9-1 ATS in their last ten vs. teams that heave up 18+ three pointers per game. On the season the Jazz are 10-2 ATS at home vs. teams that average triple digits. Denver is 12-17 on the road (13-16 ATS) and has wilted on the road all season long against the good teams. We will ride Utah to win big here.
Game: Minnesota at Los Angeles Clippers (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Minnesota +5.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Clippers shouldn't be favored by 5.5 over anyone. They have lost six of their last seven home games and their last five opponents have put up nearly 110 per game on them. Right now the T-Wolves are playing better basketball. The Clippers are 18-36 ATS after having lost two of their last three games the past two seasons. They lost to Minnesota by 21 points in February and are 16-28 ATS the past two seasons revenging a double-digit loss. That includes an 0-8 ATS mark if the loss came on the road by 20+ points. The Clips don't blow teams out and anyone has a shot in this game.
