Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Dallas at New Orleans (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on New Orleans -6 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

It has been a grind for the Mavs of late, who had a muscle tussle last night with San Antonio. Just take a look at the last few days. They played at home against Toronto on Sunday. They then traveled to play Oklahoma City on Monday. They came home with a day off and had their war with San Antonio last night, and now go back on the road to New Orleans. That is four games in five nights - alternating home and away. I can hardly expect they have much left in the tank for this one. That is just half the problem. The Hornets are no cupcakes. In fact at home they are good - standing at 21-9 here. They are healthy again and after discovering life without Chris Paul wasn't so nice, the Hornets have rattled off five straight wins. They are catching an already bad road team in the Mavs in a very bad spot. The Hornets get the win and cover in this one.

The Nuggets have struggled somewhat with their offense, but that hasn't stopped them from posting a 22-7 mark at home this season. Meanwhile, Portland has had their own problems. They have not been a good road team all season as they are under .500, but where they have really struggled is playing against another winning team. The Blazers are a disappointing 2-9 SU on the road against a winning team. The losses have come by an average of 10 points per game. Recent losses to Oklahoma City by nine points and Golden State by seven, doesn’t show much promise for playing a very good Denver team. Their 7-19 ATS mark as a dog on the road of 5-10.5 testifies to their struggles. The Nuggets have played superb in this role having gone 26-7 ATS as a favorite in that same range of 5-10.5. I'm laying the points and backing the Nuggets in this one.
