Nba Free Predictions - March 01, 2008
We went 1-3 yesterday to drop us to 11-6 (65%) over the past week. Tonight we have three picks.
Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: New York Knicks at Orlando (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on New York Knicks +11.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Magic have had a strange, but good season. They have actually been better on the road than at home. On the road they have logged a 21-12 mark, vs. just 16-11 at home. The Knicks were a pointspread nightmare early on as through 35 games they stood at a money burning 14-21 ATS. They have since tightened things up, and have gone 11-5 ATS in their last 16. The difference is a team that lost almost half it's games by double-digits. Through 45 games the Knicks lost 22 by 10+. They have played better and harder of late, as only two of their last 13 have resulted in 10+ losses. We like the Knicks to keep up the solid effort and hang within this number.
Game: Utah at Memphis (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 2 units on Utah -9.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
Memphis has lost seven straight and have to be missing Pau Gasol in a big way. Utah suffered a tough loss to New Orleans last time out but we don't hold that against them. As you knew from our writeup on that game, it was a great situation for a very motivated Hornets club. We look for Utah to take out frustrations from that one on the hapless Grizzlies here. Memphis is just 10-20 ATS this season vs. winning teams including 0-8 at home vs. the league's elite (teams at 60%+). Utah spanked Memphis 110-91 here in Memphis in early February. The Grizzlies are 7-15 ATS at home vs. teams they most recently lost to including 4-12 if they gave up 100+ in that last game.
Game: San Antonio at Milwaukee (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on First Half UNDER 96.5 -110 (risk 4 to win 3.6)
The Spurs are on a mission having won seven straight. They are doing it on defense having allowed just one of those seven opponents to reach triple figures. Overall they have averaged just 87.7 ppg allowed over their win streak (84.2 and 39.9% FG over their last five). They have been pretty mellow offensively over that span, scoring around 93 per game. The Spurs are 32-23 UNDER the first half this season including 24-11 on the road to a total between 95 and 100. They are 23-14 UNDER in the first half this season off a win and 18-8 UNDER off two straight wins. They are also 18-8 UNDER this season in the first half vs. poor defensive teams (those allowing 100+ ppg). The Bucks are 16-7 UNDER in the first half as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points.
