Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Orlando at Charlotte (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Charlotte -1.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
If at the beginning of the season someone had told you that Charlotte would be favord over Orlando, it would have meant that Orlando’s plane had gone down and they were starting five new players. The fact is that this is a game where Charlotte is 18-4 at home and Orlando is 12-11 on the road. This is a total reputation line, with Orlando perceived to be the better team. Not very often will you get a team with an 82% winning percentage vs. a .500 team with less than a home-court advantage for a pointspread, which makes them a dog here. I know value when I see it, and will play Charlotte here.
Game: Portland at Detroit (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Portland +120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.6)
Both of these teams are banged-up and riddled with injuries, but the talent pool is much deeper in Portland, who has been able to win while Detroit has struggled. The Blazers are 12-7 in their last 19 games, with three of the losses coming to Boston, Orlando and Cleveland. The Pistons have just seven wins all season vs. winning teams, so the value is certainly on the side of the Blazers here who have beaten 12 teams with a losing record on the season. The Pistons are just 1-10 ATS after a double digit loss at home, and as a 2-point choice here, that doesn't bode well for the straight-up win either. I'll go with Portland on the moneyline.
Game: Golden State at Phoenix (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Golden State +12 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
It would be easy to look past this Golden State team that is just 4-17 on the road. The problem is that they are 11-3 ATS in their last 14, including 4-1 ATS on the road as a dog. Phoenix didn't lose a home game until right before Christmas, but have become quite ordinary here at just 6-5 in their last 11 games. They have suffered three double-digit home losses in those 11 games, with the latest occurring last night to a sub-.500 Chicago team. This is a struggling team at just 1-5 in their last six straight-up, so laying doubles is surely dangerous. I'll go with Golden St. here.
Results: 2-1

Looking at pure wins and losses, Dallas would be the obvious choice here and the public thinks so as well as over 70% are on the Mavs for this one. I'm in the other camp. The Sixers have been a pr...

The Atlanta Hawks soared out of the gate, but have really been lackluster over their last 15 games where they have posted just a 7-8 mark. Sacramento meanwhile, hasn't done a lot of winning on the...

The Pacers were a high-flying offensive team last year, but they had a lot of injury issues which slowed this team down. Now are healthy and back to running again. The Pacers battled through the injur...

The Wizards are 13-26 and hosting a team that is 25-16. Why is Washington favored? Portland has injuries, yes, but Brandon Roy is expected back here. And, Washington has their own issues missing playe...

The Mavs have been a good road team this season, but this is a spot where I really like the Raptors. Toronto has gone 12-6 at home this season including 6-1 in their last seven here. Overall the Rapto...
