Basketball Pick Pro - February 24, 2010

We had a minor set back yesterday, missing on our sole play.  We look to get back on track today with three premium picks.  Over the past six weeks, our NBA picks are 31-26 for +13.5 units.

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Orlando at Houston (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 204 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

This number on the total here is simply too high. The Orlando Magic have allowed just two teams in their last 15 games to reach the 100 point mark. Those 15 teams saw 40% of them not get out of the 80s. The Rockets against the NBA's elite teams; Boston, Orlando, Cleveland and the LA Lakers have been stopped cold. They have faced these elite teams six times on the season and have averaged just 89.5ppg. That certainly makes this number way too high. Orlando has, for a longtime now, played UNDER after scoring 100+ in their last game. They have produced a 72-35 mark to the UNDER in that situation. These teams have played four of their last five meetings in Houston to the UNDER as well. I'll go with the UNDER in this one.

The Charlotte Bobcats continue to improve and, although they have been better at home, they have only seven road wins on the season and four of them have come in their last eight games on the road. They are making strides as the season goes on. One thing to not, in their last 18 road games they have been beaten by double-digits just three times. This was a team that was pounded on the road, but that is not the case anymore. The Jazz have historically been money at home, but are leaking oil dropping their last two. This has been a dog's series with the dog taking the money in eight of the last 11.  Charlotte is better than the price offered here and I'll go with the Bobcats.

The Detroit Pistons went 28 straight games without scoring 100 points or the benefit of overtime. However, they have now gone over 100 in three of their last five. One of the reasons is the hot-hand of Richard Hamilton, who had missed a big chunk of the season, but now has fresh legs and has scored 30.5ppg over his last four. The Clippers had been solid defensively, but over their last 12 games have allowed 104.5ppg and this total suddenly looks a little light. Pistons have played four straight over on zero days rest and the last five in this series played in LA has seen four top the total. I like this one to go OVER the total.
