Nba Picks - February 21, 2009
We nailed our 5-unit play last night to finish 3-2 for +6.9 units. Last night's winner lifted our three-month NBA run to 58%, 173-126 for a rockin' +106.6 units. Today we are back on the NBA wood with two more premium picks including another 5-unit play.

Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 213 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Dirk Nowitski scored nine points last night against Houston. It was just the second time he has scored under 10 this year. The first was all the way back in game three against the Cavaliers. He followed that with a 30-point performance. He will certainly be looking to be more offensive minded here against the defenseless Kings. The Kings are allowing 116.1 points per game in their last 18 - an NBA worst! They are also managing 105 ppg themselves, so defense certainly isn't part of the game plan. These teams played to 228 points in Sacramento in their last meeting. The history here says OVER as the last seven meetings between these teams have all gone OVER. I'll follow the trend and go OVER here.

The Jazz have been a top-notch team at home over the last two years as they have dropped just 10 games. The Hornets are no pushover however, and I see value here as the Hornets were the same eight-point dog at the Lakers. Are the Jazz on that same level? There is definately an overlay at work here with the Jazz’s home record, but we don't need a win in this price range. Chances are that the oddsmakers see the Hornets here playing on consecutive nights and juiced the line. What they don't know is that the Hornets have been the best team in the NBA playing in the second game of back-to-back nights as they have turned in a bookie-burning 31-14-3 ATS mark in their last 48 games. There are just too many points here, so I'll grab the Hornets.
