Nba Basketball Pick - February 03, 2010We failed to connect on our two picks last night, dropping us to 19-14 (58%) for +17 units over the last three weeks. We put that behind us today with five premium picks.
![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: It would be easy to dismiss a play on Golden State when they take to the road as their 4-21 straight-up mark would make most look to the other side. The fact is that this team is a moneymaker on the road as they are 1-8 straight-up in their last nine, but 7-2 ATS. They are also 6-2 ATS on the season when taking double-digits. The Mavs have really been fighting themselves of late, and there just isn't anything representing an easy game for this team right now. They are just 9-23 ATS in their last 32. What is even more revealing is that they are 0-9 ATS when laying 7 or more. This one might look easy for the Mavs, but it is anything but. I'll go with Golden State here.Game: Portland at Utah (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Portland +7.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Trailblazers have taken a lot of injury hits, but this team keeps punching back. This team saves their best basketball for playing top teams on the road. The Blazers, despite a break-even mark on the road, are being compensated too much for injuries and have become lethal for grabbing the money. Their last eight on the road vs. a winning team shows a 7-1 ATS mark, with four straight-up wins as a dog, and the lone ATS loss was by a half point. The Jazz’s Achilles heel has been playing vs. the Northwest where they have turned in just a 3-9-1 ATS mark in their last 13. The Blazers are getting it done, and have to be considered a live dangerous dog here, so I'm going with Portland.Game: Phoenix at Denver (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 222.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) This line is set sky high, but I still think the game goes OVER this total. Denver home games have averaged 214 points per game while Phoenix road games average 217 points per game. They score on average 9 points per game more than their opponents give up on average. Denver allows 102 per game, so it's not unreasonable to see Phoenix get to 110+ here. Denver averages 107 per game (113 at home). They score 7 points more than their opponents typically give up. The Suns allow 110 per game on the road, so again, seeing Denver get to 110+ here isn't unreasonable at all. When facing a team that averages 100+ points per game the past three seasons, Phoenix is 60% OVER (60-40). I expect fireworks in this game and an OVER.Game: San Antonio at Sacramento (10:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Sacramento +4 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) This is the first of eight straight road games for the Spurs. I think they could get caught here napping. The Kings are 16-31 and the Spurs have won seven in a row against Sacramento. Tony Parker is still questionable and Manu Ginobili is slumping, shooting 31% in his last four games. And, San Antonio's defense has shown some weakness lately, having allowed 103+ in three of their last six games. That's not good when facing a team that averages 106 points per game at home. San Antonio is a losing road team and Sacramento is a winning home team! I like the Kings here.Game: Charlotte at L A Lakers (10:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 194 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Lakers are back at home where they are 23-3 after an eight-game road trip. That might be bad news for under bettors as the Lake Show has averaged 114 points per game in their first home game when coming off a multiple game road trip. The Bobcats, always considered an offensive liability, have changed form. The Bobcats have amazingly averaged 101 ppg in their last 17! They have now played to a 37-18 mark to the OVER on the road vs. a winning team. The Lakers can score, and getting home has proven to be a big offensive spot for them, and Charlotte has also become a 100+ team. I like this one to go OVER the total. Results: 3-2 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
