Complimentary Picks

Game: New Jersey at Indiana (3:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 stars on Indiana +2

Let's see here. We have a home playoff team that has won 2 of 3 in the series already including the last game by 12 points and a team that took 2 of 3 in the regular season and we get them as a home dog. I'll take it! For some reason the oddsmakers and public just can't believe that New Jersey, as hot as they were to end the season, can lose. But, the Nets are now 1-4 in their last five games on the road. Indiana is 4-1 in their last five at home. The Pacers are also 23-13 ATS vs. winning teams (14-5 ATS during second half of season). The Nets are 19-29 ATS as a favorite this season including 4-12 on the road! Jermaine O'Neal, at home, will eat up the Nets again. Pacers plus the points which they likely won't need here.

Game: Dallas at Memphis (5:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Memphis -1

Contrarian play. Dallas has absolutely dominated Memphis, crushing them by 10 in game one and 15 in game two. Memphis has looked completely lost. Well, time for a bounce back. They know they must win this game to have any shot. Returning home, I think they put forth a great effort and get the must-have win - their first ever postseason win. Dallas can't help but let down a bit here. They are in commanding control and coming off a 15 point blowout win. They have shown a propensity this season to do just that as they are just 9-19 ATS following a 10+ point win. Here at home is where the Grizz play their best defense. They have allowed just 85.9 points per game here all season long on way to a 30-11 record. They clamp down tonight on Dallas and come away with the win.

Game: Detroit at Milwaukee (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 stars on Milwaukee +6.5

Milwaukee put forth just enough effort for us in game two to get the cover. It was expected that they would be able to cover against a Detroit team on a letdown after the game one blowout. Well, the game two result was a near-perfect setup for this game. Not only did we get that win, but Detroit won by double-digits. In their mind it was an unconditional win. They have now won the first two games by an average of 15 points. Returning home, in yet another game 3 must-win, the Bucks will lay it all out on the floor tonight in front of their home crowd. We'll take comfort in the fact that Detroit remains overvalued having covered just one of their last six games and having gone 5-14 ATS on the road in the second half of the season. Top-level teams (75%+ SU) as favorites coming off two consecutive wins by 10+ points are just 5-25 vs. division rivals over the past ten years. This game qualifies for a number of my postseason systems. One involves fading teams that shot uncharacteristically good last game (Detroit hit 51% FG). Other systems abound as well as we have a very good bounce-back situation for the Bucks. Milwaukee plus the points.

How much to bet? I recommend 1% of your bankroll for every star. A one-star pick = 1% of bankroll. A five-star pick = 5% of bankroll. It is strongly recommended that you never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any given game! Remember, there are no such thing as locks. Never bet over your head and you'll live to see another day. Approach your bets as an investment that grows steadily over the long-term. For more, see my write-up on Bankroll Management.
