Nba Basketball Pick Online - April 28, 2008
We went 1-2 yesterday. We felt great on Philadelphia at +5.5 when they went to half with a 10-point lead. But, they blew it in the third. Tonight we have two picks...
Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Boston at Atlanta (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Boston -9 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
What happened last game? Doesn't really matter to be honest. It was a fluke. Atlanta hadn't come within 10 points of Boston in five losses prior to the last game. That win was their first postseason win in nine years and it likely woke up Boston who was caught sleeping. This Hawks team lost the first two games by 23 and 19 points. After that win, that will motivate the Celtics, we don't see much of a chance for Atlanta to all of a sudden keep a second one close. Atlanta's hunger was clear but will it be there again? Al Horford summed it up saying after the game, "You want to celebrate." Um, it was one win after getting trounced in back-to-back games. It's not time to celebrate. Let's not forget what we have here. Boston, the league's best team record-wise, lost back-to-back games just twice this season. Even after that loss, they are 31-11 on the road (28-14 ATS) and are facing a losing team. Boston is 29-12 ATS vs. losing teams this seaon (19-5 in their last 24). They are 27-10 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points. They are 18-5 ATS on the road revenging a same-season loss the past two seasons. Atlanta is 18-27 ATS as an underdog this season and we don't see them catching lightning in a bottle twice in a row.
Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Denver (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Denver +4.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Lakers will look to close out the Nuggets tonight in Denver. The Lake Show has completely dominated this series, winning each game by double-digits, but the Nuggets track record, and NBA playoff history, point to alternative value here. San Antonio had Dallas 3-0 winning the first three by double-digits back in 00-01, and lost game four. In 99-00, up 3-0 on Utah and winning all three by 10+, Portland lost game four. This season we have seen San Antonio lose game four after starting 3-0. The Nuggets shot the ball about as bad as they did all season long at home in game three. This is a team that went 17-5 SU vs playoff teams at home, winning 11 of the 17 by double digits, with an overall scoring margin of +7.9ppg in the 22 games. Denver was also 7-0 SU off a home loss this year, never having dropped two in a row at home all season. They also dropped three in a row on three separate occasions, and in the 4th game came back to win by 26, 16 and 42 points. We don't think this series ends here tonight. And, if it does, we expect it to be a nail-biter. The value here is on the Nuggets with the points.

The first three games in this series have seen the following first-half points of 92, 93 and 82. The 82 was here in Washington. We like this one to also go UNDER the first half total. The Cavs ar...

This is a must win for the Nuggets who were manhandled in Los Angeles. Not all must-win games result in a win but we like Denver's chances here. This is a team that is night vs. day at home vs. on...

This has been a see-saw thus far with Detroit getting embarrassed in a game one upset loss only to win game two by 17 points. They doubled the Sixers' leading scorer Iguodala holding him to 4 poin...

Stick a fork in the Rockets. Yes, oftentimes prognosticators overreact to the first two games and pronounce the loser done, only to see them come back and make it a series. This is not one of tho...

The Pistons were shocked in game one as nearly a double-digit favorite and that spells trouble here for the Sixers. The Pistons were definitely stung by that loss and now realize they took the game to...
