![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: This series appeared to open up in game three, but that was not really the case. The Heat shot over 50%, the Celtis 48% and the two combined to shoot 80% from the free throw line. I would expect, with the Heat on life support here, for defense, as in games 1 & 2, to be the prevailing factor. Boston has been 11-5 to the UNDER in their last 16 following a straight up win, and the Heat have had some very poor playoff quarter over the past two years. This one stays UNDER the total.Game: Cleveland at Chicago (3:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Cleveland -5.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 194.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) It was pretty obvious after going up 2-0 in this series at home, that the Cavs came out flat in the first period and fell behind by 11 points. They found themselves down 21 points and spent the rest of the game trying to coming back, only to make up 19 of them, falling two points short. The Cavs are 16-6 ATS as a playoff favorite in their last 22 with LeBron and have turned up the "D" after a straight up loss, playing seven of nine to the UNDER in this situation. The Bulls are 21-6 to the UNDER as a home dog of 5-10.5. The Cavs will start with intensity, and I'll play Cleveland and the under here.Game: Dallas at San Antonio (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on San Antonio -2.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) The oddsmakers have labeled Dallas the better team here, with San Antonio playing at home and the line below what the normal home court advantage would be. The difference is the experience of the Spurs in the playoffs. Dallas went for 110+ in nine of their last 21 games, but have only averaged 92.7ppg in the three vs the Spurs. The Spurs know how to win with defense, something Dallas has yet to learn. The Mavs have failed in their last four as a dog in the playoffs, while the Spurs are 20-6-2 ATS as a playoff favorite, rarely get caught off guard. San Antonio gets this one.Game: Denver at Utah (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Utah -1.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) Think the oddsmakers are living off last year when Denver was the darlings of the playoffs, covering their first 12 games, but since are just 2-5 ATS and have again been a poor road team. The Jazz have been a potent home team for several years and have now won 11 straight at home, discounting the season finale no-show vs Phoenix, and the margins are eye-opening. The Jazz have won the 11 games by an average of 15.8ppg, with just one team coming within nine. The Nuggets are 1-7-1 ATS last nine playoff games on one day rest, while the Jazz are turning out the lights at home with a 23-5-2 ATS mark in their last 30 posted as a 4.5 point favorite or less. Utah in this one. Results: 3-2 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
