Nba Game Predictions - April 23, 2010We suffered a setback on the NBA floor last night, winning just one of our picks. Over the last six weeks, our NBA picks are hitting just under 60% at 54-39, good for +32 units of profit.Today, we go with our 5-unit NBA Playoffs Game of the Year (ATS) plus one other 5-unit pick for four picks total.
![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: The Celtics have been a playoff fixture the past three seasons since bringing in Garnett and Allen to compliment Paul Pierce, giving them the Big Three to compete for a championship. The results have been good, winning in 2008, but not what you might expect from this team on the road. The Celtics knocked-out the Heat at home, making this series look like it will be short, but hold on. The Celtics have been down this road, looking like world beaters at home where they have been a sizzling 20-4 in the playoffs over the past three years. The road has a different story to tell where they are just 5-13. That includes a dismal 1-5 on the road in the first round. The Heat just are 1-5 on the road, but 2-1 at home over the past two seasons in the playoffs and will have something to say in game three, so I'll go with them on the moneyline.Game: Dallas at San Antonio (9:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on San Antonio -3 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Dallas Mavericks sizzled down the stretch, finishing the regular season at 23-6 over their last 29 games. Lost in the streak was the fact that they finished just 4-4 in their last eight vs. winning teams and surprisingly, three of the losses were at home. While many are surprised that San Antonio took a game in Dallas, you can see it isn't as surprising as it looked. The Spurs finished up 18-8 themselves and were 4-1 at home in their last five vs. winning teams, including the likes of the Lakers, Orlando, Cleveland, and Oklahoma City. The Spurs have had a playoff pedigree for over a decade, leading to a 19-6-2 ATS mark as a playoffs favorite. I'll go with San Antonio here.Game: Denver at Utah (10:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Utah -2 (-110) (risk 5 to win 4.6) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 215.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Denver Nuggets will have some fan appeal, and will be liked by bettors too after going 12-0 ATS to open the playoffs a year ago. That won't happen this year as they have already dropped a one just two games into this series. They not only dropped a game, they lost one outright at home, and now have the daunting task to try to play catch-up in Utah, a graveyard of sorts for opponents over the years. The Jazz are 102-31 in this building over the last four years, while the Nuggets, who have never been a good road team, must try to get one here. The Nuggets have finished first or second in the division each of the last four years, but their overall road mark is under .500 for the four years. The Jazz are lights-out as a small home chalk, sitting at 22-5 ATS coming into this one. The Jazz’s home prowess has really been at its peak of late, scoring 118 points per game at home in their last nine (all wins), excluding a no-show season finale. The margin of victory in the nine games has been 17 ppg. The Jazz won't be slowed down by the Nuggets here and the 120s is certainly likely. As a result, the Jazz will be my NBA Playoffs Game of the Year (ATS) along well as a play on the OVER in this one. Results: 2-2 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
