Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: San Antonio at Dallas (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Dallas -5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
The Dallas Mavericks accomplished what they set out to do and that was to steal a game in San Antonio. They negated the home-court advantage with the win, and come home with a chance to close out the series on home hardwood. The Spurs are without a key component to their success as Manu Ginobli will not play in this series. A second component, Tim Duncan is playing on a pair of ailing knees, and took just 10 shots in game two. Tony Parker had perhaps his best game of the year shooting 16-22, producing 38 points. It is unlikely he will do that again. The Spurs have a losing record on the road this season against teams over .500 and without Ginobli, they are going to have to be almost perfect to hang in this one. The Spurs are just 2-7 ATS in their last nine against teams with a winning percentage of .600 or higher. Also, the Mavs have come up big all season after an ATS loss as they are 16-5 ATS in that role. I look for Dallas to come up big in game three.
Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Utah (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Utah +3.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Utah Jazz will be glad to get home as they have won just once on the road all year against a team with a winning record. The story changes at home where they have been a completely different team. They lost all four games vs. Los Angeles on the road by double-digits this season, including the two playoff games. The Jazz also lost the first two games in last year's playoffs to the Lakers by double-digits. When they came home, the Lakers saw a different team. The Jazz won two straight to even the series. This year, in the only game they played in Utah, the Jazz won that one as well, beating the Lakers by 24 points in the regular season last year. The Jazz is a different team at home, so I will go with Utah here.
