Nba Free Predictions - April 11, 2008
0-2 last night. Tonight we fire back with another four picks to get back on track. Our NBA picks are up +25.1 units over the last two months.
Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Memphis at Miami (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 193.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Grizzlies struggled all season on defense, but tonight they get the Heat who are averaging 91.5 ppg on the season and 85.4 over their last five. The Heat are 23-16 UNDER on the road this season and have gone UNDER the total in 13 of their last 16 games. Memphis' offense is ok but on the road sub-par, scoring 97.9 per game. Miami's defrense isn't actually all that bad, especially at home as they keep foes under 100 per game. Memphis likes the three and Miami has gone UNDER 26 out of 42 this season vs. teams that make 6+ three pointers per game. Memphis is 25-11 UNDER the past two seasons after scoring 100+ in two straight games. That includes a perfect 9-0 UNDER mark if they scored 110+ in those two games.
Game: Atlanta at New York Knicks (7:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Atlanta -5.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Knicks have now won three in a row for just the second time all year. The question remains is this a team that has taken the season off, and been a no-show almost the entire year suddenly turning it on for a lengthy period to close the season? Looking back the answer to that question is no. The Knicks have been awful now for four years, and during that time have mounted as much of a three game winning streak just eight times. They have not been able to maintain, and have been 1-8 SU and 1-8 ATS after winning three straight. The Hawks have not clinched a thing yet, and Indiana has closed the gap for the final playoff spot down to two games, so a full effort is expected here. The only thing the Knicks winning three straight does is keep this line down and put value in it. The Hawks are an improved team especially on the road. They were a 7-25 road team as recently as March 10, but have won four on the road since. For four years running the Knicks have not been able to maintain focus for more than three games and the Hawks will come to play here, and we will ride them.
Game: Washington at Detroit (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 186.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Detroit has lost two in a row and you know what that means? A very strong defensive effort to try to get back on track. And, Rip Hamilton, Detroit's leading scorer, is likey still out (questionable for this game and Detroit doesn't want to risk further injury before the playoffs). Since his absence, the Pistons are averaging 95.8 ppg. Over their last eleven games they are averaging just 90.6 ppg and allowing only 88.1 per game! In the last game between these two clubs, 178 points were scored. The Pistons are 78-49 UNDER the past three seasons vs. winning teams and 16-5 UNDER the past two seasons at home vs. teams that allow 46%+ shooting by opponents. They are also 23-12 UNDER this season after their last game went OVER.
Game: Seattle at San Antonio (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 184 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Spurs play some hardcore defense at home, while the Sonics have proven one thing this season. They can score against the weaker teams where they average 100 points per game, but when they hit the road against the top nine defensive teams in points allowed they are stopped dead. The Sonics have played 12 such games, and their highest output has been 97 points. They have averaged just 86 ppg in these 12 games. The Spurs have played 16 games at home against sub-.500 teams and these teams have averaged just 83.6 ppg against them. More often than not, the Spurs do not reach the century mark, scoring 100+ in just 6 of 16 games. As the games get more important, the games become more defensive and the last three Spurs’ games have averaged just 155.3 ppg. We like this one to go UNDER the total.
