Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Indiana at Atlanta (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Indiana +5.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

The playoffs have started for the Indiana Pacers - even though they might not be in them. They sit one game behind Charlotte for the eighth and final spot in the NBA East, so expect a playoff-like effort in this one. The Pacers have risen against the better teams in the NBA all season long, and they need to step up again here. The Pacers have roared as a road dog, as they are 7-2 ATS over their last nine played in that role. The old gambling adage, "the team in need, is the team indeed." applies to this one. I will back the Pacers to make a huge effort, and at least stay close here.
Game: Phoenix at Memphis (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Phoenix -1.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Pick: 5 units on Game Total UNDER 227 -110 (risk 5 to win 4.6)

The Memphis Grizzlies are a horrible team that made a little run, as almost any team does, and it is reflected in the line posted here, but not justified by what the team is. Memphis made a nice run winning five out of six but are back to their losing ways dropping their last two. The Grizzlies are 1-16 straight up against the last 17 teams they have played with a winning record, so to see a team positioned as almost a pick-em game is ridiculous. The total here reflects just one side, and that is that Phoenix is a scoring machine, but that hasn't been close to the case for Memphis when playing at home. They have only reached this total twice all season long at home, and when a team with a winning record has come to Memphis, none have played a game that would top this total! The Grizzlies have hosted 13 games vs. the NBA's top 10 scoring teams, and just one has topped this total, while the average of the 13 games is not even 200 - it is 197.2 points per game! The 13 games have seen the total fall short of 200 in eight of the games or 61.5% of the time! Phoenix is among those teams, as they played a game that featured just 190 points earlier in Memphis. This one is way too high, so I am backing Phoenix and the UNDER.

Game: New Jersey at Detroit (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on New Jersey +7.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Pistons are just simply a team based on reputation of past years and not this year's results. They have needed to win down the stretch, but have managed to go just 5-9 over their last 14 games, which shows they just aren't the same team their past reputation credits them. Put them in a role of a favorite of -6 or more, and they are just 6-14 ATS on the season, showing they have been completely over-valued. The Nets have played to an 11-3-1 ATS record against the East in their last 15, while the Pistons just 8-18 ATS in their last 26 as a home favorite. The Nets get the call here.
Game: Charlotte at Oklahoma City (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Charlotte -3 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Charlotte Bobcats are holding onto the final playoff spot in the East by just a single game. This is not a place to stumble, if they hope to garner their first-ever playoff berth in Charlotte. Oklahoma City is another bad team that made a good run, but has returned to their sloppy form which has now seen them drop seven of their last eight games. A team that was hot ATS is now also just 3-8 ATS in their last 11, as they are no longer under the radar, and at the same time playing poorly again. Charlotte needs a win and always brings tough defense. This one should not be an obstacle, so I will back them here.
Game: Utah at San Antonio (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Utah +3 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
While Utah has not fared well on the road against winning teams, they will face one here in San Antonio that has been riddled with injuries. They have lost Ginobli for the season with an ankle injury, Parker had cramping in both calves in the last game and Duncan is questionable with ailing knees. San Antonio is a good team, but not the one they once were, and in their last six at home vs. teams with a winning record, they have managed to win just one of them. They now have a hungry Utah team coming in, and the Spurs are playing very short of a full compliment of star players. This is a good spot for Utah as a live dog, and I'll back them in this one.
Game: Sacramento at Los Angeles Clippers (10:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Sacramento +4 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
The Los Angeles Clippers were competitive at times with Zach Randolph. Unfortunately, after a suspension for a DUI, he won't be playing in this one. The Clippers are a bad team without their best player. Beyond that they have at least five more injured players, so this team is down to "Miami Heat" status of last year, and we all know how that worked out. The Clippers have an overtime win to show for their last 10 games, and I certainly don't expect much from them here - even against the Kings. The Kings have more than held their own against the bottom feeders of the NBA, losing by two in Washington, and two at Golden State in OT, as well as beating these Clippers by 12 in their last matchup. I'll go with the Kings in this one.

Results: 3-4
