Free Nba Pick - April 10, 2008

We pushed one and lost the rest last night as we are off right now. Tonight we'll go light on two plays...

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Denver at Golden State (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Golden State -4.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)

It doesn't get any more meaningful or tight than this as two teams locked in a tie for the last playoffs spot meet. If the Nuggets win, they will claim the straight-up tiebreaker given that they have already beaten the Warriors two out of three this season. A Warriors win evens the season series as well as the next tiebreaker (record vs. conference opponents). This game is more important to Golden State and they luckily get the Nuggets at home. Denver is mean at home but just 16-23 on the road. Golden State is very similar, posting a mediocre road mark but going 26-12 thus far at home. Denver especially struggles vs. high-scoring foes who can keep up with them. They are just 6-21 ATS in their lats 27 vs. teams that average 103+ ppg. Golden State has gone 20-8 ATS at home vs. teams winning teams at home the past three seasons after the All Star break. We are going to fade the Nuggets in this barn-burner.

Game: Utah at Dallas (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Dallas -4.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)

Dallas is all-of-a-sudden playing like a team that needs to be taken seriously in the playoffs. They have won four out of their last five to secure a safe #7 position ahead of the Nuggets and Warriors. Utah's road woes are well known (17-22 SU and 16-23 ATS) and Dallas is a very strong team at home when not laying huge lines. They are 32-7 SU, putting them close behind the Jazz for home-court dominance. Utah's big problem on the road is defense where they allow 104.1 ppg! This is somewhat of a statement game for the Mavs. They have lost two straight vs. Utah. Those were on the road and if they lose a third straight, at home, it doesn't bode well for their confidence going into the playoffs. Games involving two very good teams favor the favored teams. The favorites in such games have hit at a 73% ATS clip the past five seasons including 8-2 this year! We'll take Dallas here.
