Free Basketball Pick - April 08, 2009We went 4-1 yesterday pushing our pro hoops record over the past week to 13-7 (65%). Over the past five months we are +84.4 units. Today we have three picks, including one 5 unit selection.
![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: Orlando's coming off an embarrassing loss to Houston. In that game they were held to just 83 points. They've shot 38% from the field in back-to-back games. I expect them to take out their frustrations and return to form vs. Memphis here. They are still fighting for the second seed in the East so expect no letdown here. Memphis is just 8-30 on the road, scoring 93 and allowing over 100 ppg. Orlando is 30-8 at home (22-16 ATS) scoring 102 and allowing just 91.8. Over the past two seasons, the Grizz are just 31-47 ATS vs. winning teams. Orlando is 24-14 ATS vs. losing teams this season and 25-12 ATS vs. teams that allow 100+ ppg. Orlando is also 10-1 ATS this season coming off a road loss. I like the Magic, a team that tops my power rankings, to roll here.Game: Atlanta at Milwaukee (8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Atlanta +1 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) Atlanta needs to keep winning to keep hopes alive for home-court advantage in the playoffs. Given their 7-game thriller vs. Boston last year, in which they couldn't lose at home, and their huge discrepancy in record home and away this year, think they are going to scratch and claw to get homecourt this year. Milwaukee plays horribly on the road and decent at home. But, the Hawks are the better team here. Atlanta is now 12-4 ATS vs. Central division foes this season and 28-14 ATS following a win. Milwaukee has given up as they are now 3-13 SU and ATS in their last sixteen games. I'll take Atlanta here.Game: Portland at San Antonio (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 180.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) We were on the Spurs last night and got the win, despite the absence of Ginobli. Tonight they will also likely be without Duncan who is slated for rest. San Antonio will revert to great defense to try to win this game. They average just 92.6 ppg allowed at home on the year. Portland can also bring it defensively. They have held their last five opponents to just 87.4 ppg. Without Duncan or Ginobili on offense, I expect this one to be a very tough-fought extremely low-scoring game. Results: 2-1 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
