Basketball Predictions - April 06, 2008

Well there are good days and there are bad days. Yesterday was a very bad one obviously. We apologize for that day as everything went wrong and we gave back everything we gained on our big Friday and more. All we can do is look to come back and get those losses back. Today we have four picks.

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Golden State at New Orleans (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 220.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

After the Warriors 117-86 win over Memphis, they are now tied with Denver for the last playoff spot in the West. Their offense got back on track after two mediocre games. But, those two sub-par performances were at San Antonio and at Dallas. So, it's understandable. Their 92 point performance vs. the Spurs was their first sub-100 point game since early Janary. The fact remains that this team is a scoring machine that plays no defense. They will now face a New Orleans team that is also potent and is scoring a lot themselves. The Hornets have put up 110 per game in their last four. The Warriors are 50-33 OVER vs. winning teams the past two seasons. More telling, New Orleans is 13-4 OVER this sseason vs. teams with terrible defenses (allowing 103+ ppg). We like this one to go OVER.

Game: Denver at Seattle (9:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Seattle +12 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

If there was ever a team that was going to bring it, it will be the Sonics tonight. The last time they played the Nuggets they gave up 168 points, and Denver never called off the dogs, putting up 41 in the 4th quarter in a game that was over by halftime. The Nuggets are certainly vulnerable on the road, as they are just 9-6 SU vs the teams under .500. They are also just 2-13 to this line on the road vs under .500 teams. Seattle is just 1-16 over their last 17, but if there was ever a game where they are going to show up, and make life miserable for the Nuggets down the stretch, it is here. We'll grab the bushel of points on the motivated team here.

Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento (9:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles Lakers -7.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Lakers have had a very difficult road schedule of late as their last five have all been against playoff teams. They have completely controlled the non-playoff teams on their schedule when they take to the road, as they have won and covered seven of the last eight and have dominated these teams all season. Sacramento has won four straight, but is going nowhere and the Lakers have everything to gain by winning here. Los Angeles has shown that when they hit the road in a game they should win, they do exactly that, and cover in the process. Lakers by double-digits.

Game: Houston at Los Angeles Clippers (9:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Houston -8 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Clippers are one of a few NBA teams that have clearly packed it in, as indicated by their 4-20 mark over the last 24 games. They are 0-8 SU and 0-8 ATS in their last eight at home vs a team with a winning record. Once they fall behind, they lose all their energy. How bad has it gotten? These are some of the margins they have lost by 18, 26, 30, 26, 16 and 11 points, so they aren't even close. Houston has righted the ship winning their last two, and each game is a playoff game from here on out. They are not about to allow the Clippers, who have clearly quit, think they can steal one.

Results: 3-1
