![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: This one appears to be all Cleveland. Cleveland has covered 14 of the last 18 vs. Boston, including seven of nine here in Boston. The Cavs have become only the ninth NBA franchise to post back-to-back 60-win seasons. They can clinch home-court in the playoffs with a win here. And, they are facing a Celtics team that has fallen on hard times. The Celts have lost three in a row SU and ATS. But, this is a place for Boston to take a stand. They need to stop the bleeding and they will feel more urgency here. I like the Celtics to show up in this game and get the win.Game: Golden State at Toronto (6:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Golden State +7.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) The Raptors have won three in a row and five of eight, but four of those five wins came against losing teams so they really aren't playing that spectacular. Golden State has covered nine of their last 13 games and his team can hand Don Nelson a big gift with a victory here. One more win ties Nelson for the most career victories for a coach (Lenny Wilkens owns 1332 career wins). Granted, that will be tough, but I do expect the Warriors to put up a fight tonight in an effort for their coach. While the Warriors are just 5-31 on the road, they own a 19-16 ATS mark in those games. When playing really bad defenses this year (teams allowing 103+ ppg), Golden State is 11-3 ATS. Meanwhile, Toronto is just 27-42 ATS dating back to last season vs. teams that score 99+ per game. I like the Warriors plus the points here.Game: New Jersey at Washington (6:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on New Jersey +150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.5) A week ago, the Nets were in jeopardy of setting the dubious record for fewest victories in an NBA season. But now they have won four of their last six games. Meanwhile, the Wizards have lost 17 of their last 18 games, so why is Washington favored here? People can't get it out of their minds how bad New Jersey is. They still view them as that team that was threatening for that worst-ever record, but this team has found some mojo. In their last six games they are averaging 101 points per game - a full ten points better than their season average and nine points better than what Washington has averaged over the same span. As a favorite the past two seasons, the Wiz are just 13-20 showing they don't deserve that role. That includes 11-18 at home. I think right now the Nets are the better team and I think they win this game.Game: New York at Los Angeles Clippers (9:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on New York +105 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.2) No playoffs for either of these teams, so what is there to play for? Well, these teams knew early in the season that the playoffs weren't in the picture, so not a whole lot has changed. I believe that New York, however, has a bit more to look forward to. While the Clippers have resigned themselves to basement-dwelling year in and year out, the Knicks still have plans for bigger things. They will be going after some big name free agents in the offseason and they have some hope in David Lee who has posted career-highs in points (20.3) and rebounds (11.9). I believe they will be a bit more motivated here than the Clippers who have dropped 14 of 16 games and four in a row. New York has the better offense and I think that makes the difference here. Results: 3-1 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
