Free Basketball Pick - April 03, 2009

We picked up the win last night (+3 units) as the Jazz and Nuggets soared over the total. Today we are back on the NBA hardwood with a pair of picks as our NBA plays are 222-180 since mid-November (+69 units).

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: San Antonio at Indiana (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Indiana +4 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Indiana Pacers have been a tough team at home against the top teams. They have already beaten nine teams with winning records at home, and lost to four others by just two points and another in overtime. The Spurs have a losing record on the road over their last 11 at 5-6 and overall, they have covered just two of their last nine. The Pacers are 10-1-1 against the spread at home vs. teams with a winning road record. The Spurs have covered just one of their last nine as a favorite. They are also just 8-20-2 ATS when they allow 95 points or more, and the Pacers have failed to reach 95 at home just four times this season. The Giant killer strikes again, and I will go with Indiana here.

The Golden State Warriors are one of just five teams in the NBA with a losing overall record, but a winning record at home. The Warriors have used that home court to stay in a lot of games against good teams with their frenetic style. It has led them to 13-5 ATS as a home dog this season. That isn't a recent occurrence as in their last 50 posted as a home dog Golden St. is now 37-13 ATS or a winner 74% of the time. The 13 wins this year include 10 as an outright winner! The Hornets have played some good basketball recently, but haven't improved up the fact that they are just 6-14 SU in their last 20 games on the road vs. a team with a winning home record. It is hard to back a team that has only won 30% of the time straight up, giving points as well. I will go with Golden St. in this one.
