Nba Picks - April 01, 2009

We had a perfect night on the NBA hardwood going 3-0. This brings our four and a half month total to 221-178 for +73.1 units.  Tonight we have two premium plays including a 4 unit selection.

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Toronto at Orlando (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Orlando -9.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

The Toronto Raptors have now won four games in a row for the first time all season. All that will do is get Orlando's attention that they need to show up for this one. Toronto is fool's gold here. They have played their last eight games vs teams under .500 on the season. The real story is when they hit the road vs a team with a winning record, they are 0-14 straight up since Thanksgiving and ten of the 14 have been decided by ten or more, 12 by nine or more! The average margin of their defeats has been 15 ppg. Let's not forget who the real hot team is here, Orlando is 13-2 in their last 15 and went through the month of March undefeated at home. Orlando won the last one here by 23 and would not be surprised to see a similar margin here. The Magic are 51-17 vs an opponent that allowed 100+ in their last game. Orlando big here!
Game: Miami at Dallas (8:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Dallas -5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Miami heat is certainly in a better place than they were last year and will be in the playoffs, however they still haven't learned how to win on the road, especially vs the good teams. Over the last two and a half months the Heat has lost every game vs a team with a winning record they have played on the road and have covered just one of them. The Mavs are holding down the eighth and final playoff spot in the West so every game is crucial for them and they have been tough at home at 26-9. mavs are 7-1 ATS at home vs a road team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 as a home favorite. The Heat is just 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 vs the Mavs. I'll go with the Mavs here.

Since Lebron James arrived in Cleveland, the Cavaliers and the Pistons have played some of the ugliest games of any two teams in the league. This has become a hate match, and the games play ugly. The ...

The Utah Jazz is a red-hot team that has now gone 20-6 over their last 26 games. They have been a tale of two teams during the second half of the season. On the road, the Jazz have allowed 100 points ...

The Indiana Pacers have now played seven straight games to the UNDER. That is a bit misleading, as none of those games were against teams ranked in the bottom 10 in points allowed per game. Against th...

The Charlotte Bobcats have done a much better job of late and are a vastly improved team, but they still have trouble finding the win column on the road. The Bobcats have just 11 road wins on the seas...

I find it impossible to back a team as a favorite that has underachieved for two seasons, has gone 2-9 in their last 11 games and apparently has thrown in the towel on another less than inspiring seas...
