Game: Houston at Cincinnati (7:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Houston +101 (risk 3 to win 3)
The Reds have now lost four straight and send Matt Belisle to the mound. Belisle hasn't exactly been a stopper for the Reds. The Reds have been 3-10 in his last 13 starts following a loss and are just 8-16 in his last 24 starts, even though the Reds have scored 5.5-runs per game (RPG) in those starts! Belisle has yielded four+ runs in 15 of his last 22 starts, and that doesn't bode well here. Wandy Rodriguez has not had a great season, but the Astros have won four of his last five starts, and his last game was a gem, allowing a single run over eight innings. The Astros are finishing strong having gone 7-4 over their last 11, scoring seven runs a game in the process. The formula to beat the Reds all season has been to start a LHP, where the Reds are just 23-34, and the second worst team in all of baseball against LHP. We will ride the Astros who are 7-1 in Cincinnati this season, to the sweep.
Game: New York Yankees at Tampa Bay (7:10 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Tampa Bay -105 (risk 3 to win 2.9)
The Yankees have finally clinched the wildcard, and manager Joe Torre will undoubtedly be resting a lot of regulars in this one. The Yankees are the worst team in baseball on the road against LHP, as they stand at a woeful 3-14. Jorge Posada will most certainly be given the night off, and the rest of the Yankees own a .195 avg. against Kazmir. Kazmir has been on lately as he has a 1.00 ERA over his last three starts, and has allowed just 12 hits in 18 innings while striking out 30. The Yankees counter with Phil Hughes, who has yet to live up to the billing as the top pitching prospect, which now may belong to Joba Chamberlain. Hughes was roughed up for four runs in four innings in his only outing against TB this season. We like the D-Rays with their ace, who has a 2.38 ERA since the break, to topple the post-celebration Yankees.
Game: Colorado at Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Colorado -123 (risk 3 to win 2.4)
The Rockies have played themselves right into a heated NL pennant race for both the division and the wildcard, while the Dodgers have played themselves right out of it. The Rockies have now captured 10 straight in the win column and after a poor start to the season the Rox have been hot for a long, long, time posting a 68-45 mark over their last 113 games. They will bring Franklin Morales to the hill tonight. Morales has been unhittable of late, and has not allowed a run in any of his last three starts while working 17 innings, he allowed just seven hits, with opponents batting an anemic .117. The Rockies have outscored the opponent 66-31 in the last 10 games. The Dodgers can't wait for the season to end and they are playing like it. They have managed just one win in their last 10, giving up 6.3-rpg in the process. Estaban Loaiza has not been the answer. He has lost his last three starts pitching to a double-digit ERA, and has walked 13 in his 12 innings over those three starts - all Dodger losses. The Rockies are lethal against RHP leading MLB with a 64-48 mark, and +25 units for their backers. We will ride the streaking Rockies here.
