Free Mlb Predictions - September 26, 2007

2-0 yesterday on two big dogs, good for +10.3 units. Four more plays today.

Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Los Angeles Angels at Texas (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Texas +110 (risk 3 to win 3.3)

The Rangers have taken the first two in this series, and have now won four of five. They will send Luis Mendoza to the hill to look for the sweep. Mendoza has been very impressive for the Rangers, as he is coming off a one-run performance, and overall has a 1.93 ERA in limited starts. The Angels are 1-4 in their last five road games, are resting players, and setting things up for the playoffs. The Angels started 8-1 in Saunders first nine starts, but have since been just 3-5. Saunders had an ERA of 2.89 just before the break, but has since allowed 83 hits in just 65 innings, and has pitched to an ERA of nearly five. The Angels have struggled against on the road all year, as they are getting just 4.6 runs per game and are down 4.2 units to their backers. We like the Rangers to get the sweep in this one.

Game: Minnesota at Detroit (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit +124 (risk 3 to win 3.7)

The Twins are closing the season 10-17, a far cry from what we have seen from this team in recent years. The Tigers shut them out last night, and it was the 12th time this season the Twins have put up a goose egg. The last six times they have been shutout they have come back with an average of less than two runs a game, and in all 12 they follow with an average of less than three runs a game. Johan Santana has not finished strong either. The Twins are just 5-8 in his last 13 starts. Santana has really been giving up the long ball, as he has served up 33 on the season. Santana has pitched to an ERA of just 4.20 in his last 13 starts, and has served up 16 HR'S. The Tigers faded in the second half, but have managed to go 13-7 over their last 20. Jair Jurrgens has been impressive, and the Tigers have won five of his six starts. He has out-pitched Santana over this stretch, and we get the better team, the hotter team playing at home as a dog, so we will ride the Tigers here.

Game: Washington at New York Mets (7:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Washington +170 (risk 3 to win 5.1)

The Mets are doing their best to not only cough up the NL East, but to get the golf clubs out early. The Mets’ staff has resembled a police blotter full of arsonists down the stretch. They have been lit up for 104 runs in their last 14 games, or just about 7.5-runs per game. They have lost games while scoring 7, 8 and 9 runs and are 5-9 in a pennant drive. The Nationals are having fun and hitting the Mets pitching all over Shea Stadium, producing 23 runs in the first two games there. The Mets have to turn to rookie Phillip Humber to stop the bleeding. Humber was recalled on Sept. 1 when the rosters were expanded and pitched just three innings since, so you have to wonder about his stamina and command at this point. He last worked in a one-inning relief stint way back on Sept. 11. Mike Bacsik has pitched well against the Mets as he has a 1.74 ERA in three games over 10 innings. We like the Nats to keep life miserable for the Mets.

Game: Colorado at Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Colorado +114 (risk 4 to win 4.6)

Don't look now, but the Rockies are one game out in the wildcard race in the NL. This team is hot in the moment, but equally hot for a long stretch. The Rockies have now won nine straight, and are 67-45 for their last 112 - best in the NL. They have crushed RHP to a MLB best 64-48 good for +24.51 units. The odds makers just don't get this team, but we do. The Rockies have taken five straight from the Dodgers and have punished their pitching staff to the tune of nine runs a game in the process. The Dodgers have quit, and have gone just 1-8 in their last nine. The Rockies are focused, and playing as the best team in baseball both lately and over the last 112 games, we will take them in a dog role.
