Game: Washington at New York Mets (1:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 stars on New York Mets -150 (risk 200 to win 133)
Steve Traschel is 6-2 over his last nine starts and owns a lifetime 10-5 mark with a 3.35 ERA vs. the Nationals. He's also 18-5 the past three seasons vs. losing teams. He's opposed by Tony Armas Jr. who is just 8-12 with a 5.22 ERA. Armas Jr. hasn't won in his last six starts. The Nats just aren't very good on the road where they allow 5.8 runs per game and have a 28-51 record. The Mets are 17-5 after having lost 3 of their last 4 games this season. They found their offense last game and I think they get it again here this afternoon.
Game: Detroit at Kansas City (2:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 stars on Detroit -161 (risk 300 to win 186)
The Tigers go for the sweep with a motivated Justin Verlander on the mound. Despite a great overall rookie campaign (16-9, 3.63 ERA), he's lost two in a row and wants to avoid his first three-game losing streak here. He should get plenty of run support as the Tigers go agains Runelvys Hernnadez who is 3-5 at home with a 6.53 ERA and the Tigers are hitting well (6.7 runs per game over their last seven). Kansas City, a team that has hit well at home for most of the season, has gone cold. Their last seven games - all at home - they've managed just 4.1 runs per game - over a full run less than their average. Favorites of -125 to -175 at 54% to 62% after 2+ wins are 61-20 (75%) vs. teams at 38% or worse over the past five seasons. And, the Tigers are 15-3 at -125 to -175 this season while KC is 3-19 at home after 5+ straight losses the last two years. Detroit for the sweep.
Game: St. Louis at Houston (8:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 stars on Houston -196 (risk 200 to win 102)
The Astros have won four in a row and look to Roger Clemens to make it five. Houston is already 6-3 vs. the Cards here at home this season. Clemens has been awesome - again. He's got a 2.37 overall ERA and a winning record despite a lack of run support in most of his starts. Jeff Weaver is 7-14 with a 5.84 ERA. Clemens is 6-2 with a 2.84 ERA vs. St. Louis over the past decade. The Stros are hitting the ball nicely of late (5.6 runs per game over their last seven). If they can give Clemens that kind of run support, this should be an easy Stros win. The Cards are just 9-23 this season in the underdog rie. Take Houston.

| How
much to bet? I recommend 1% of your bankroll for every
star. A one-star pick = 1% of bankroll. A five-star pick
= 5% of bankroll. It is strongly recommended that
you never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any given
game! Remember, there are no such thing as locks.
Never bet over your head and you'll live to see another
day. Approach your bets as an investment that grows steadily
over the long-term. For more, see

Management. |
