He has pitched very well for the past two years, but like any other pitcher, he hits the wall and loses his way. Right now that is where Cliff Lee is. Since his second start of the season, Lee has had only allowed more than four runs just once. Suddenly he has now allowed 5+ in each of his last three starts. His ERA is 9.60 in those starts and he has allowed 29 hits in 14 innings - obviously struggling right now, so the line offered here gets juiced while Lee struggles. One of those last three games was against this same Washington team that pounded him for five runs in seven innings and 10 hits. Lee still has good numbers for the season, but he has allowed more hits than innings pitched. The Nats are the play here on the runline.Game: Tampa Bay at Baltimore (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Baltimore +130 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.9) Tampa Bay finally won a game last night, but this team has lost its swagger. Last year, everything went perfectly and it took them right to the World Series. Now they amazingly trail the Yankees by nearly 20 games. Even with everything going right a year ago, the road was paved with landmines as they finished south of .500, and this year a very poor 30-45. They are currently in a 6-16 road rut, and this team literally has no fight left in it. Niemann hasn't been able to stop the road bleeding either as the Rays are just 1-5 in his last six road starts. Last year the Rays were scooping up wins everywhere, this year they are bazing a trail of losses especially on the road. I'll go with Baltimore in this one.Game: Arizona at San Diego (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on San Diego +120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.6) Sometimes looking at the opposing pitcher, in this case Dan Haren for the D-Backs, can make you a bit uncomfortable offering against him. Not the case here at all as the D-Backs are pathetic against left-hand pitching. Arizona is a weak offensive team to begin with at 4.4 runs a game, but put them against a lefthander and that drops significantly to 3.8 runs a game. The result has been very noticeable on the road as Arizona has put together a very poor 4-13 mark on the road against lefthanders. It has not helped them having Dan Haren on the mound as he has made three road starts facing a lefthander, and the Diamondbacks have dropped all three of them. Wade LeBlanc is gaining confidence and is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA in his last three starts. I'll take the live dog here and go with San Diego. Results: 1-2 ![]() MLB Baseball Picks Resources:
