Free Mlb Pick - September 14, 2008We have four Sunday picks... ![]() Today's MLB Baseball Picks: Can you imagine the last place Pirates sweeping the Cards? Me Neither. Brad Thompson will look to ste things right today. He's 5-2 overall and 2-1 in starts with a 3.05 ERA. St. Louis is 41-28 vs. the run line this season after a loss while Pittsburgh is 26-35 after a win. The Pirates are 6-18 vs. the run line after back-to-back wins this season. I'll back the Cardinals to win by 2+ here. Game: Los Angleles Dodgers at Colorado (3:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Colorado -116 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.6) Los Angeles has taken a page out of Colorado's 2007 playbook as LA is making an extremely strong late season run having won 12 of their last 13 games. Will they sweep the Rockies at Coors? Don't bet on it. Not with Aaron Cook on the mound. Cook has gone 16-9 on the season which is saying a lot on a 67-82 team. Colorado is a winning team at home, scoring 5.2 runs per game. The Dodgers average just 3.9 runs per game vs. RHP so I expect them to struggle against Cook. Throw in the fact that the Rockies are 16-4 the past two seasons avoiding a 3-game sweep at home and we have a pick on the Rocks this afternoon. Game: Seattle at Los Angeles Angels (3:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Los Angeles Angels -169 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.4) The Angels are on a mission this season. Despite their insurmountable lead int he AL West, they are not letting up. They look for a sweep of Seattle here and we like their chances a lot. The Angels are still motivated by pride and hold just a 2-game lead over Tampa Bay for the league's best overall record. Seattle is one of the worst teams in the league and they haven't been able to generate offense all season long. That's one reason even good pitchers such as Felix Hernandez have losing records. Facing Hernandez is ERvin Santana who thanks to solid run support has posted a 15-6 record and a 3.36 ERA. Over his last three starts, he has allowed just seven earned runs in nearly 22 innings. He's 20-7 the past three seasons vs. division foes and I'll back him and the Angels to get the win here. Game: Cincinnati at Arizona (4:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Cincinnati +135 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.1) Arizona has lost 14 of their last 18 games and can't seem to get out of their own way. They have a losing record since the mid-way point of the season vs. losing opponents. The D-Backs are averaging just 2.7 runs per game over their last seven and seem to have given up. They are coming off a 10th inning loss last night so the mindset can't be good. I'll take the + juice fading this Arizona team. Results: 3-1 ![]() MLB Baseball Picks Resources:
