Baseball Pick - September 06, 2008

We dropped our pick yesterday on the Giants runline. Over the last two and a half weeks we are up +11.1 units and today we feature two MLB plays.

Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Arizona at Los Angeles Dodgers (3:55 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles Dodgers -117 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.6)

Brandon Webb has been searching for that 20th win, and is finding it quite elusive. The D-Backs looked like they were in control as the Dodgers went into the tank dropping eight straight. Now the pressure is really on as the Dodgers have emerged from the ashes with six straight wins including a whitewash of the D-Backs last night. The Dodgers are poised to take the division lead today and have all the momentum to do so. Webb has built some negative "mojo" as he has not made it out of the fifth inning in two consecutive starts, and has been walking a bunch and has had a complete meltdown. Chad Billingsley has not made a name for himself yet, but his ERA is actually better than Webb's for the season. The Dodgers have it going, so Webb's 20th will have to wait. I'm taking the Dodgers in this one.

Game: Pittsburgh at San Francisco (9:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on San Francisco -115 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.6)

You have to believe that getting shutout by the Pirates at home will get the Giants attention tonight for this one. Cain has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the NL this season with a 3.69 ERA, and the Giants have emerged victorious in four of his last five at home. That ERA is 2.97 over Cain's last 16 starts, as he has gotten better as the year as gone on. The Pirates are no road masters, and have come away with the money just four times in Maholm's 13 road outings. The ERA is much higher on the road as well at 4.32. I think the Giants redeem their loss against the road-incompetent Pirates, with a pitcher that has only been able to get them four wins in 13 tries on the road.

The Rockies have to have Arizona and Los Angeles nervous. Last year we all saw them come from nowhere to take the division and stretch it all the way to the World Series. The Rockies are on a 25-16 st...
