Game: St. Louis at Washington (1:05 PM Eastern)

Jason Marquis has been a dissapointment this season posting a mere 14-12 record with a 5.86 ERA. On the road he's .500 and over his last three starts he's got a 7.31 ERA. He's 3-3 in nine appearances vs. the Nationals and the last time he faced them, he was hit for 7 runs in five innings. Ramon Ortiz has been no better for Washington but this is a home game for the Nats. They are a winning home team while St. Louis is a sub-.500 road team. They are 2-8 during the second half of the season on the road vs. teams that outscore their opponents by 0.5+ runs per game. Over the past two seasons, Marquis is 3-14 vs. such teams. The Dodgers have won seven of eight and have been on a tear since acquiring Greg Maddux who starts this afternoon. He's 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his six starts for LA. Milwaukee is going the opposite direction having lost ten straight games. Maddux has a 13-5 record vs. Milwaukee with a 2.41 ERA. The Dodgers take care of business vs. bad teams. They are 23-7 since the All-Star break vs. losing teams. Back Los Angeles and Maddux.

This pitching matchup is a joke. Rodrigo Lopez is 9-14 and 3-7 on the road with a 7.05 ERA. Jared Weaver is 9-2 with 1.09 home ERA. Baltimore is 25-41 on the road where they managed just 4.5 runs per game. Their bullpen is horrible away from home too (5.46 ERA). LA's is very good (3.28 ERA). The Angels are having trouble scoring right now but against Lopez they should get healthy and I don't expect much scoring here againt Weaver. Expect a big game from Vlad who is batting .438 over his last 21 games.
