Free Baseball Picks - October 27, 2007
Well, we rolled through the playoffs but have hit a wall in the Series. We took a shot on Colorado in game one that obviously didn't work out. In game two, we liked Boston but unfortunately opted for the run-line instead of the moneyline. As the series changes venues, we have a pick on tonight's game as we look to get back to the winning ways.
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Boston at Colorado (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Colorado +134 (risk 2 to win 2.7)
The Red Sox swept the games at Fenway and now it is time for the Rockies to make their last stand. While the talking heads have built Colorado's coffin, this is not a team that gives up. They were one strike away from missing the playoffs and they didn't get here by laying down. While they certainly don't want to be down 0-2, there are a few good signs for Colorado going into game three. The first is that the Red Sox bats showed signs of cooling off. Secondly, they are at home and the Rockies were the best team in the NL at home. Also, tonight the Sox line-up will be weakened in two ways. Youkilis will be on the bench and Ortiz will be playing first. A bit less potent line-up, and a down grade at first base defensively will give Colorado a couple of much-needed edges. Diasuke Matsusaka has really struggled late in the season. He has carried a 5.65 ERA through two post-season starts and has really hit the wall. His woes aren't limited to the playoffs. The Red Sox are just 6-10 with him on the mound as a road favorite and 6-9 in his last 15 starts overall. This will be a great opportunity for the Rockies to turn the series momentum around. Josh Fogg has pitched much better with a 3.24 post-season ERA. The Rockies finally have the edge being at home and a favorable pitching match-up. And, let's not forget the Rocks are 63-37 this season vs. winning teams including 9-1 in their last 10 with Fogg on the mound. They are also 8-1 at home vs. high-scoring AL teams (5.2+ rpg) the past two seasons. We will ride the home team as a dog tonight.
