Baseball Handicapping - October 25, 2007
Dropped our game one World Series pick last night, tonight we fire back with another selection.
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Colorado at Boston (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Boston -1.5 runs -106 (risk 2 to win 1.9)
Boston bats are booming right now, and they broke the winning string of the Rockies, and maybe their psyche as well. Boston has now won their last four games by a combined score of 43-6 against what is supposed to be the two best teams around. Curt Schilling has always been a big-game pitcher, and the Sox pen which is the best in baseball, is well rested and ready to close this game out over the last three innings if the bats have cooled down. The Sox have now won eight postseason games, and the closest win was by three runs so the logical approach here is to take the run line. The fact is the last 15 Boston wins have come by two or more runs. The Rockies are also feast or famine, as 17 of their last 20 losses have come by two runs or more. Boston is also 20-6 against the runline at Fenway when playing teams that outscore their opponent by 0.5 runs or more, and 11-2 over NL teams that score 4.8 runs per game or more over the past two seasons. Since Francona has been at the helm for Boston, they are 25-10 in October games vs. the runline. Tonight we will ride a comfortable Boston win.
