The Yankees have had such limited postseason success the past few years, but the change is becoming quite noticeable. The problem was the Yankees’ lack of quality at the top of their rotation and come playoff time, they were simply in unfavorable pitching matchups. Enter CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett and the Yanks are back in business! Burnett is a hot and cold pitcher, but right now he is dealing a hot hand as he is 3-0 in his last three outings while pitching to an ERA in the 1's. Joe Saunders has had problems against winning teams, except for light-hitting Seattle who he posted a 3-0 mark against. Against all the other winning teams, Saunders is just 5-9 with a 6.57 ERA, and the Yanks are chewing up lefthanders to the tune of a 37-18 mark on the season, including a 14-4 run at the new Stadium in the Bronx. The Yanks’ winning percentage in their new home stands at 71.1%, so I like them to go up 2-0 in the series tonight.
