Game: San Diego at St. Louis (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on St. Louis -178 (risk 2.5 units to win 1.4 units)

St. Louis turns to Chris Carpenter to pull the nail in San Diego's coffin. The Cy Young Award winner took care of business in game one, giving up one run and striking out seven. He's got a sick 1.81 ERA at home this season. Compare that to Wooody Williams who posted a 4.29 ERA on the road this year. He hasn't pitched yet in the postseason and Bruce Bochy felt the need to try to lift his confidence going into this game by saying "We have so much confidence in Woody." Carpenter is 38-10 as a favorite of -150 or more the past two seasons while the Pads are just 8-21 this season vs. a starting pitcher who averages 5+ strikeouts per start. Carpenter is 4-2 with an ERA of 3.04 vs. San Diego while Williams is 1-3 with a 7.32 ERA vs. the Cards.
