Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Oakland at Detroit (1:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit -180 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.7)

The Tigers have been getting it done at home, and with a surging Justin Verlander on the hill, they will be tough to take down in this one. Verlander has been nearly flawless in his last three home starts, working 20.1 innings, allowing just a single earned run, working out to a microscopic 0.44 ERA on the hill in Tigerland. The A's are sporting a not-so cozy 25-54 mark on the road in their last 79 vs. a winning team. Overall, they are just 14-38 in their last 52 vs. a starter with a WHIP of 1.15 or less. The Tigers are 20-8 in Verlander's last 28 starts, and 41-20 in his last 61 as a home favorite, which doesn’t suggest the upset in this one. Detroit gets the call.

The Yankees took one on the chin from the Indians when they cane back from a 10-4 deficit on Saturday. The Yankees showed them who was king of the hill by bouncing back yesterday with a 7-3 win. The win was the Yankees’ 17th of the season by 4 runs or more. The Indians got the only game they will win in this four-game series, and the Yanks now sit at 9-1 as a chalk of -200 or more. The Indians 14-42 in their last 56 as a road dog, and 1-8 as a dog of +201 or higher, which doesn't bode well for them here. The Yanks are burning in the Bronx vs. right-hand starters, now at 41-12. I'll go with the Yankees in this one.

The Brewers’ offense has over-achieved on the year, but they are beginning to undergo the expected adjustment. They have already had 13 games of 7 runs or more, but you won't find many of those of late, with just 1 in their last seven games, and 2 in their last 20. The Marlins’ offense isn’t exactly breaking down any walls right now either, as they have scored just 3 runs in their last three games, and 3 or less in eight of their last 10 games. Both of these teams are in a negative run on offense. The Brew Crew has stayed UNDER the total in four straight vs. a losing team, while the Marlins are having a tough time reaching the high totals, sitting at 20-7-3 to the UNDER to a total of 9-10.5 in their last 30. The last 12 played here show 9-3 to the UNDER as well. I like the UNDER in this one.

Ervin Santana is capable of delivering a gem on the road, as witnessed by the fact that he has allowed 1 run or less in three of his last foour road starts. Luke Hochevar has pitched more than admirably at home for the Royals where he has put up a 3.45 ERA on the season. The Angels’ offense is not what it once was, and against teams with a losing record, they are now 19-9 to the UNDER, and have also played 17-6-1 to the UNDER in their last 24 vs. the AL Central. The Angels are 30-11-1 to the UNDER vs. an opponent that scored 5+ in their last game, while the Royals are a picture-perfect 5-0 to the UNDER in that same situation. Hochevar has pitched well enough at home to make a high total difficult to top, and the Royals are 6-1-1 to the UNDER in his last eight home starts with a total of 9-10.5. These teams historically play low-scoring games with the UNDER showing a 26-8 advantage in the last 34 meetings. UNDER gets the nod in this one.
