Justin Verlander has pitched well in his last few starts but still sits at 2-7 with a 5.16 ERA. With him on the mound this season the Tigers are 2-9. Felix Hernandez has been doing much better posting a 3.60 ERA. Detroit scores just 3.7 runs per game on the road which is why they are 11-17 away from home this season. The Tigers are also a horrible 4-15 this season in day games and 16-28 vs. RHP. To a line of -125 to +125 this season they are 10-20. We'll back the Mariners here.

The Mets have had a lot of angst this season already - just ask Willie Randolph. After his meeting with management, they seemed to be getting back on track, winning three straight. But the lost last night in the late innings. That loss dropped them below .500. This team remains motivated to keep winning and they are playing hard. We like them to bounce back today. Chad Billingsley has been pitching very well of late but his overall body of work is average. Mike Pelfrey has not been pitching well but at home this season he has been solid (3.60 ERA). The Dodgers get just 3.8 runs per game vs. RHP and their offense has produced only 2.9 runs per game over their last seven. They are just 4-11 this season vs. teams like the Mets that score 4.8+ runs per game. We'll back the home team here.
Game: San Diego at San Francisco (4:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on San Francisco -113 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
We lost in extra innings last night with the Giants. We'll take another stab at it today. The fact remains that San Diego has the worst offense in the NL, averaging 3.6 runs per game (3.2 in division games). San Francisco isn't a lot better but they are better, and they are at home. The Pads start Joshn Banks who has only seen eight innings of action thus far. Yes, San Diego won yesterday but that's one of the key reasons we'll fade them here as they are 5-16 this season after a win!
Game: Pittsburgh at St. Louis (7:15 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on St. Louis -141 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.1)
Paul Maholm has really struggled this year (2-5 with a 5.11 ERA) and is coming in off three straight losses. The Cards are coming on strong having won three straight and nine of their last twelve. The Pirates over the past three seasons are just 10-40 on the road vs. teams that outscore their opponents by 0.5+ runs per game. We like the Cards to keep their momentum going against Maholm and the Bucs.
