Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: New York Yankees at Baltimore (1:25 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Baltimore +129 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.9)
Baltimore has been better than advertised. While the Yankees have been winning at home, they now take to the road where they have been highly suspect. The Yankees have had their troubles in Baltimore where they have been 5-7 in their last 12 allowing 70 runs in the 12 games or almost six runs per game. Rasner has given them more than they could have expected, but will be tested on the road against an O's team that plays their best against the Yankees. Certainly they have been getting it done at home, where they have won four of their last five. We like the O's in a dog role at home.
Game: New York Yankees at Baltimore (1:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Baltimore +1.5 runs -130 (runline) (risk 3 to win 2.3)
We will also grab the value of the runline in this one. The O's have been super-productive against the Yankees recently, and on the season they stand at 15-6 to the +1.5 runline.
Game: Milwaukee at Washington (1:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Washington +133 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4)
The Nats are 13-23 in night games but 9-6 in day games. They get much more offense during the day. Milwaukee tends to play down to their competition as they are 6-17 the past two seasons against teams with an OBP of .315 or worse and 10-2 against teams that are outscored by 0.5+ runs per game. The Brewers are just 24-35 as a road favorite of -125 or higher the past decade. They are also 7-22 on the road in May the past two seasons. We'll back the home dog here.
Game: Milwaukee at Washington (1:40 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Washington +1.5 runs -130 (runline) (risk 3 to win 2.3)
The Nationals have been highly respectable at home where they have now gone 14-7 to the runline in their last 21. We like them here in addition to the moneyline. When healthy, Ben Sheets is nothing short of an ace for the Brewers. But with that said he has been a valued go-against on the road against the runline. With Sheets on the mound the Brewers have been just 14-23, or converting just 38% against the runline on the road. There is certainly value here especially since the Brewers have struggled on the road, where they have covered a -1.5 runline in just three of their last 17.
Game: Detroit at Los Angeles Angels (9:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles Angels -121 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.5)
You have to consider this a bargain-basement price on the Angels. What they have done is win at home for several years and more importantly, one of the top teams against LHP last year is doing it again at 9-2 on the season. Here we are at the 50-game mark and Detroit sits in last place in the AL Central when most thought they were the odds-on favorite to win it all. Kenny Rogers has reached the stage of his career where the question pops up: Does he have anything left? Soon to be 44-years-old, age becomes a pressing issue for the Tigers as Rogers enters with a 6.66 ERA and getting hit hard, becoming bat shy in the process. The Angels are the choice in this one.
Results: 4-1
