Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Texas at Cleveland (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 8.5 -115 (risk 3 to win 2.6)

This is a Ranger offense that has been sizzling hot. Over the last 12 games the offense has produced 87 runs, or 7.25 per game, almost covering this total based on just one team over the past two weeks. They have also played in four straight OVERS, and 15 of 24 on the road. Cleveland has faced some very tough pitching over the past 10 days and we look for the offense, coming home, to produce against Gabbard, who the Indians have touched up for a close to a 7 ERA over his limited career. This looks like a game that could easily reach 10, so we will play the OVER here.

Amazingly, the Tigers are sitting in the basement of the AL Central after 48 games, when everyone thought they'd be running away with the division. It hasn't been about pitching matchups, or where they are playing as they even have a losing record at home. It has been about injuries, confidence, shoddy bullpen and finding ways to lose. The Twins are in second place and after dealing Santana, they were poised to be dwelling in the basement, but they have more than held their own. The Tigers have been at their absolute worst, where they need to be their best, and that is inside the AL Central where they are just 4-15 on the season. The Twins have been their best here at 13-8, and like the value in the Twins grabbing one on the road.

The good thing for the Yankees is that they appear to be on the mend and ready to make a turn after winning the series against the Orioles. The better news is it is Seattle coming to the stadium, a team that is helpless on the road at 7-17 and an even worse 3-10 against the AL East. Eric Bedard is not the same pitcher yet, as he was last year as the M's have lost three of his last four starts. His strikeouts are way down and his walks have reached four in 57% of his starts. This is a good place for the Bombers to grab their third straight against a team that is completely down and out and has dropped three in a row.

Matt Garza is a valued addition to the Ray's staff that needs some innings eaters as well as someone that can keep them in the game, with their offense a bit more potent and their pen a bit more reliable. The Rays have also begun to create a homefield advanttage as they are 16-8, and this is not a moneyline in tuned to the new-era Rays. Baltimore is turning south, losers of back-to-back games, and are also just 10-15 on the road. The Rays are different this year and there are valued lines playing on them as they are 27-20 and appear to be for real.

Everyone knows Barry Zito is a much better pitcher than the 0-8 record shows, and because of that this line offers value on the Giants who have won two straight. Zito has pitched more Zito-like recently. He has allowed no more that three runs in each of his last three starts and in six of his last eight. The Marlins have sprinted out of the gate. Scott Olsen has pitched way over his head after a 5.58 ERA last season, and he is showing signs of heading downward with a 4+ ERA in his last two starts where Zito has actually out-pitched him. These odds are too long, and there is favorable value on the Giants to get Zito his first win of the season.

Maybe the White Sox are MLB's version of the Trailblazers that went on a huge winning streak then faded away. What does matter in the moment is they have won eight straight and are virtually even money at home. The Sox lead the Cental at the quarter-pole of the season and continue to surprise. It's all about pitching as the Sox staff has posted a 3.48 ERA, and that alone will keep you many games. Gavin Floyd has already taken a no-hitter to the ninth, and has completed four starts without yielding a single run. When you have a team winning eight straight with what has arguably been their best pitcher on the mound at home, at even money, you have to make a play.
