Mlb Game Predictions - June 24, 2008

We had another great day running the base paths yesterday as we finished 2-1 for +3.6 units. Our MLB picks are now up +92.3 units and hitting 60% (116-78) over the last five and a half weeks. Four picks today with a 5-unit and a 4-unit!

Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: St Louis at Detroit (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 9 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Tigers were a dormant team that everyone was waiting on to explode at some point in the season and that time is now. The Tigers' offense has come alive and over the last 15 games they have posted a 12-3 mark. They have also been producing 5.8 runs per game during that stretch. St. Louis has been an improved offensive team, carrying run production of 4.7 rpg over their last 24 games. The Cards have also been 16-5-3 in interleague road games over their last 24, and the Tigers are 10-4 with Rogers on the mound in a favorite's role. Like the OVER in this one.

Game: Texas at Houston (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Texas +107 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 4.3)

The Rangers have long been a team that has struggled on the road. They started the season 5-10 on the after posting a 28-53 road mark last season. Combined over 96 games that left them at 33-63 - hardly a team worth backing, but things have changed. This is an improved team with a deep, productive lineup that can win with their bats and have gotten some better pitching as well. The result is a 15-11 road tally in their last 26. While Texas has turned the corner Houston has floundered for nearly a month. The Astros have been a woeful 5-18 in their last 23, and haven't posted back-to-back wins in over a month. Hard to ignore the Rangers improved road play, combined with Houston's poor showing over the last month. This set up gives us the Rangers as a very live dog here.

Game: Minnesota at San Diego (10:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Minnesota +147 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 7.4)

Minnesota represents MLB’s hottest team as they have put six straight in the win column. The offense is hot, the pitching has been good, and the pen is doing its job. The Padres have struggled all season and their offense makes it difficult to win games as it has been for the most part missing in action. The Padres have already had 30 games this season scoring two runs or less, a major league high, and opponents are stealing them blind on the defensive end to the tune of 98 stolen bases catching only 13 would-be base thieves. Peavy can't do it alone as witnessed by the Padres 2-6 mark in his last eight starts. Minnesota stays hot here and we like them as a chunky dog.

Game: Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Chicago White Sox +107 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.2)

The Dodgers are just 10-19 over heir last 29 games and not playing well at all. Their offense has been struggling, producing two runs or less in 12 of those 29 as well as being shutout four times. This makes it hard to find the win column. The White Sox have played extremely well, outside of being swept by the Cubs. The one thing the White Sox have done is win 15 of their last 21 over a team with a losing record. The Dodgers have been overmatched in interleague play as they have been just 14-37 in their last 51, 5-16 against the AL Central. White Sox have to be the call here.

Results: 3-1
