On May 25 the White Sox stood at 24-20 and looked to be a contender for at least a wild card spot. How things have changed. They have since been the worst team in baseball with a 5-21 record since, and have been outscored 145-92! It has been a complete collapse. The pitching, bullpen and hitting have all failed. They have managed just two runs in this series against the Cubs. Jose Contreras who has allowed 22 earned runs in 27 innings covering his last five starts will try to stop the bleeding. The Cubs are playing their best baseball of the season as they are now 12-7 in their last 19 games. Sean Marshall has been great for the Cubs as he has allowed just eight earned runs in his last five starts. The White Sox possess the worst record against LHP in baseball at 5-13. The last 10 times a LHP has started vs. the White Sox they have only one win to show for it. Look for the Cubs to get the sweep today.

The Brewers are red-hot right now having won five straight and 9 of 10. The offense is hitting over .300 in this stretch and they have produced 67 runs in their last 9 games - good for 7.4-runs per game. They have not had a game under five runs in this stretch. They will go for the sweep against Odalis Perez, who has pitched to a 6.06 ERA, with the league hitting .321 against him. He has allowed 103 hits in just 70 innings, not the type of pitcher that has much of a chance vs. a hot lineup. The Brewers will start Yovani Gilardo who got his first major league win in his debut. Gilardo pitched well allowing just 3 runs on 4 hits, while pitching into the seventh inning. The Brew Crew gets the sweep.

The Tigers have reeled off six straight wins and have out-scored opponents 46-18 in that stretch. Tiger pitching has allowed just 6 runs in their last 4 games. Andrew Miller gets the start for the Tigers, as Detroit has won 2 of his 3 starts, while he has pitched to an ERA in the mid 3's. It is no secret that the best way to beat the Braves is to throw a LHP at them. They have seen LHP more than any team by far, as this will mark the 34th time a LHP has started against the Braves. They have faired poorly as they have a losing mark at 14-19. That is just the beginning of their problems. The Braves offense has been in a horrific slump. They finally scored a run yesterday on a HR, but have now been out-scored 22-1 over their last 4, and the offense has not scored in our games on a base hit! Chuck James gets the ball in an attempt to stop the bleeding as the Braves have now lost four straight and have a losing record at home. The Tigers have feasted on LHP, as they have the best record in baseball against them at 15-6. Tigers get the sweep.
