MLB picks winning at 61% (134-84) over the last three months. Two more plays today including a 4-unit selection.
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Seattle at Houston (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Houston -157 (risk 4 to win 2.6)
Seattle was a team surprising everyone as they rattled off 9 of 10, but have come back down to Earth, to drop four straight. The Astros have followed their big losing streak and have now won 5 of 9. It is rare to get Oswalt pitching at home without having to give up some serious chalk. We now get an opportunity to get him at a reasonably low price against a team that has lost four straight and struggling offensively. The M's have scored just 11 runs in their last 4 games. Washburn has had some control issues walking five in his last start and his pitch counts have been getting high fast, and has lasted just 6, 4.2, 3.2 innings in his last three starts. That has exposed the weakness of the M's as their middle relief has allowed 10 additional runs in his last three starts. We like Oswalt to pitch a gem vs. an M's team struggling at the plate.
Game: Florida at Kansas City (2:10 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Florida +103 (risk 3 to win 3.1)
The Kansas City Royals don't spend much time as a favorite against anyone, in fact they will be favored today for just the 14th time in two years! It has not been wise to back them in this situation as they are 4-10 (28%) as a favorite. It is even rarer to see them favored against a LHP, which has only occurred once in the last two years, a loss. The reason is simple. The Royals struggle against LHP. The Royals are almost .500 against RHP, but a horrific 5-15 against LHP. The Marlins are one of those teams with not much of a home-field advantage and subsequently have played better on the road where they have been winners of 13 of their last 19. We look for them to win today and take the series.
Results: 1-1
