Kelvim Escobar seems to finally be over his elbow problems that set him back in 2005 and plagued him last year as well. He has been pitching great this year, and in his own words claims he is feeling better than he has in two years. A sure indication of the stuff he is bringing is found by looking at two games. He held the Yankees to 1 run and the Indians to 0. The Angels are also the hottest team in baseball as they have gone 23-8 in their last 31. They have scored 62 runs in their last eight games, good for nearly 8 per game. Bronson Arroyo has really been struggling. He has pitched to a 13 ERA over his last four starts, with no game fewer than 6 earned runs allowed. To make matters worse he is backed by a bullpen that has allowed 2 additional runs per game in his 13 starts. The Reds consequently are just 3-10 in his starts. Big mismatch with small odds.

It's not often you get a team on a rush at this price. The Mariners have won nine of their last ten but find themselves in the underdog role tonight. Seattle bats have been good of late. Over their past twenty games, they have averaged 7 runs per game, scoring less than 5 just twice over that span! Yes, Rich Hill has been superb this year but right now Seattle can hit anyone. Jarrod Washburn has had a rough go of it his last two starts getting pounded for 9 earned runs in 8.33 innings. But otherwise he has been solid and he has a 2.28 road ERA with a 3-1 record. Seattle's bullpen has been outstanding (3.43 ERA, 82% save). The Mariners are 8-1 this season on the road at -125 to +125. Meanwhile, Chicago is 9-14 this season as a favorite of -125 to -175. They are also 3-12 at home in June games the past two seasons and they are scoring just 3.1 runs per game vs. lefties this season. Nice live dog here.

Atlanta will hit the road after a very disappointing homestand where they went just 3-5. The Twins have yet to find the home magic that carried them last season, but will be coming in off of a win. And they have the pitching advantage in this game. The Twins start Kevin Slowey and they have won both his starts so far. The best thing about this rookie is he does not issue free passes - just two BB's in two starts. Kyle Davies has had his struggles with the Braves, pitching bad. He has not reached the sixth inning in nearly half his starts, and the Braves have allowed nearly 6 runs per game in his road starts. Davies has now allowed 4+ runs in 65% of his last 20 starts going back to last season and he doesn't pitch deep into games either. The Twins open the series with the win.
