Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Minnesota at Cleveland (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Cleveland -134 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3)

The Twins have fallen on hard times as they have now dropped six straight. Paul Byrd is pitching to a 1.89 ERA at home while Blackburn has post a 5.36 road ERA. Both of these offenses have struggled, but of late Cleveland's is looking up while Minnesota's is getting worse. Over their last seven games the Indians have averaged 5.4 runs per game while the Twins have gotten 3.4. The Twinkies are just 19-44 the past thee seasons on the road against teams that allow under 4.8 runs per game. They are also 11-26 as a road dog of up to +125. We'll back Byrd and the home team here.

The Nationals have lost John Lannon's last three starts, and overall have won just 12 of his starts or 33%. The Nats are just 12-21 on the road where they have struggled for years. Ian Snell has pitched about an earned run over his career numbers, so the expectation is he has some good games in him,and what better place than against a struggling offense? The Nats have already had 12 games of two or less runs on the road and have been shutout four times. We will take the Pirates who have been good at home all season.

Johny Cueto made a dramatic debut and then the Reds proceeded to lose his next five starts. Since then, he has gotten his swagger back and the Reds have won five of his last seven. The Reds have also been a top team at home with a 19-11 mark. Brandon Looper is in the midst of a huge struggle right now, much like Cueto was earlier. His ERA after starting in the 2's has swollen to nearly five and the Cards aren't winning his starts after beginning 3-0. Good spot for home-tough Reds, with a Confident Cueto on the hill.

Milwaukee continues to be a good road fade as they have turned 28 road games into only 11 wins. Houston has surprised playing .500+ baseball, and have cashed 17 of 28 at home. Brandon Backe has had an up and down year, but there is no question he likes to pitch at home where the Astros have only lost once in his last eight home starts. Manny Parra has had no success on the road where the Brewers have lost seven of his eight road starts. Like the 'Stros to cash here.

Ryan Dempster has had a great year for the Cubs as he is 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA. What is even better is that the Cubs are 8-0 in his Wrigley starts. The Cubs are 27-8 at home with what has been their best pitcher on the hill in this one. The odds show some serious value here. The fact that the Braves are the worst team in baseball on the road at 7-22 adds even more value. The Braves are also an enemic road offense which has led to them playing 35-16-3 to the UNDER in their last 54 games so we will also play on the UNDER here.

Kyle Davies has been great so far posting a 1.54 ERA in limited action. He's opposed by Vicente Padilla. Padilla has pitched well this season (3.73 ERA), but has slipped of late (5.82 ERA over his last three starts) and he has a history of pitching down to the competition. He is 0-8 against teams that are outscored by their opponents by 1+ runs per game the past two seasons. We're taking the Royals here, expecting Davies to keep up his great pitching.
