Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Texas at Kansas City (8:10 PM Eastern)

The Rangers have been a better team on the road this season than past editions, but Kevin Milwood has been dreadful when he takes the ball for the Rangers on the road. The Rangers have dropped 13 straight when Milwood tows the rubber on the road. Gil Meche was given a big contract by the Royals to anchor a youthful pitching staff and so far this season he hasn't lived up to that billing. He is however a solid starter that is not just due for a good outing, but more than capeable of supplying one. The Royals are off a feel-good win over the Yankees and will look to build at home. The Royals are the choice here.

We have to grab an opportunity here, simply because of the fact that the Rangers have lost 13 straight road starts by Milwood. There is just too much value here to not opt in, so we will play this one on the runline as well.

It is hard to ignore the value on a team that underachieved to start the season, but has come alive now to win five straight. Greg Maddox continues to be a surgeon on the mound. This guy still paints corners and even doing so, has walked just 12 hitters the entire season. At times he gets hit hard, but with that said he has completed nine of 13 starts allowing six hits or less, and when you don't walk anyone it results in a 3.48 ERA. Clayton Kershaw may one day become a top big-league pitcher, but he is very unrefined right now. He has trouble staying in the strike zone resulting in eight walks in just 8.2 innings over his last two starts. It's hard to win in the big leagues when hitters wait it out, and hit from favorable counts. The Padres are on a roll, and in a favorable matchup at home as a light favorite. We will take the Padres here.

The Angels were hammered by the Rays last night, so this one should get their attention. Jared weaver has some nasty stuff and when he is on, he hangs a lot of 0's on the scoreboard for opponents. He is 29-16 lifetime and already has pitched in 12 games in his short career allowing 0 runs, and three of them have come this season. James Shields has pitched well for the Rays, but he carries a 10-21 mark for his last four years of work on the road into this one. When the Rays lose on the road, they have been getting pounded, as they have dropped their last 10 to the +1.5 runline to AL teams, never producing more than four runs and being outscored 73-26, or by 4.7 runs a game. Have to like the value here, getting huge odds against a team that has shown not to merit them. Angels with a big win.
