Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Baltimore at Toronto (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Baltimore +158 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.7)
A young team like the Blue Jays often have a fragile egos and with the devastating loss yesterday to the Yankees they could be in a tough spot today. The Yankees were down two runs with two outs and no one on, and came back to beat the Jays on an 0-2 pitch to Giambi with their closer BJ Ryan on the mound. Tough pill to swallow. The Jays struggled for runs last year against LHP, and are struggling again this season at 6-9. Each of these pitchers has struggled against the teams they will face today, and the Jays will likely be flat coming into this one. With their closer being used up yesterday, the Jays may be playing without their most effective weapon down the stretch, so we will ride the O's to steal one here.
Game: Cincinnati at Florida (7:10 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Florida -127 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.4)
Potential has a way of holding lines down and Johny Cueto has been instrumental in doing just that. He opened the season with a one-run 10-strikeout performance and has been inside the oddsmakers heads since. What has followed is much less than ordinary. Cueto has worked 61.2 innings since that first start allowing 68 hits, and 13 HR's as well as posting an ERA of nearly six runs a game. The Reds have only won 10 of 32 road games and more importantly are 0-5 with Cueto towing the rubber on the road. Andrew Miller had a nine ERA through April, but has since settled down nicely pitching to a 2.65 ERA with nine less hits allowed to innings pitched. This line is subject to the Cueto factor and is much too low. The value here is on the Marlins.
Game: New York Mets at San Diego (10:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on San Diego +1.5 runs -129 (runline) (risk 4 to win 3.1)
As much as we respect Johan Santana, the former Twins ace turned Met, is only 26-32 over his career on the road facing a -1.5 runline. The Mets have been a model of inconsistency all year and more inconsistent on the road at 13-18. The Mets have only ammassed three wins over their last 11 road tilts. Randy Wolf is pitching well enough to keep the Padres in games. Although they are just 5-7 in his 12 starts, that changes dramatically as the Padres would be 8-4 to a runline of +1.5. The Padres are in their best stretch of the season as they have now won 7 of 11, and we expect them to hang tough here or win the game outright, so we will back them on the runline.
Results: 2-1

Ken Griffey Jr. looks to become the sixth player to reach the 600-club tonight. He may or may not get it but what we are concerned with is the outcome of the game. We like the Phils at home behind Ada...

Milwaukee goes for the sweep of the Astros and we like their chances of getting it in what should be a high-scoring affair. David Bush is 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA. Milwaukee averages just 4.2 runs per game...
