Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Baltimore at Minnesota (1:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Minnesota -121 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 4.1)
Garrett Olson of Baltimore are heading in opposite directions. With a 4.03 ERA Olson has been respectable on the season, but he is still a career 5.76 ERA pitcher and his close to 5 ERA over his last three games is approaching more of the norm of what he has displayed in his short career. Scott Baker has been on the rise as he has pitched to a 3.77 ERA in his last three starts, and over his career his ERA is a full run ahead of Olson's. Baker has pinpoint control walking just five in 33 innings of work and at the same time he has allowed less hits than innings pitched. Minnesota is on a surge winning seven of their last 10 games. While after a great start Baltimore is in the basement in the AL East. Short odds and pitching advantage as well as overall advantage is handed to the Twins for this one.
Game: Cleveland at Texas (8:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Texas +1.5 runs -148 (runline) (risk 3 to win 2)
The line on C.C. Sabathia this season is improving, but overall not very good. Over the last three seasons he has been an average pitcher when pitching away from Cleveland, where he has just a .500 overall mark. This year the Indians are just 4-8 in his 12 starts, and 1-3 on the road. The Rangers have found the win column in four of Kevin Milwood's last five starts. The Rangers have gone 11-6 in their last 17 at home, and two of the six by a single run. That means they have been 13-4 against the +1.5 runline in their last 19. We will back them in this one at home.
Results: 1-1
