Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Florida at Atlanta (1:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 10 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

Atlanta has already played in 31 games where they have scored four runs or less. They also have a pitching staff that does not give up too many runs at 3.58. Their bullpen has been outstanding as well, as they have pitched to a 3.20 ERA. Tom Glavine has already pitched seven games out of 10 allowing two runs or less. Mark Hendrickson has had a couple of bad outings including a 10 earned run effort last time out, but overall he has pitched 8 of 12 allowing three runs or less. Both of these pitchers have had a bad outing or two that makes this number an attractive UNDER when looking at the entire body of work. The Marlin pen is also top 10, entering with a 3.48 ERA. UNDER gets the call here.

Game: Colorado at Los Angeles Dodgers (3:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles Dodgers -133 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.3)

The Rockies have struggled all year long. Although Aaron Cook has average numbers, he has been less than average in his career on the road. The past 3+ years have seen the Rockies go 12-21 in games he has started. This year teams have plated an average of 5.6 runs a game when he is on the hill on the road. The Dodgers have won both of Clayton Kershaw's starts and he was impressive at home allowing just two runs to the Cards. The Rockies are just 9-24 on the road on the season and this will be a tough spot for them today. Dodgers get the nod.

Game: Detroit at Oakland (3:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Oakland -137 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.2)

Looking at this game before the season started, Oakland is the dog here. My, how things have changed. You really have to wonder about Nate Robertson and his future as a starter in Detroit. His ERA has been on the rise now for 2+ years and the Tigers are just 18-34 in his last 52 starts and Detroit is realizing that it's hard to build a championship team this way. Justin Duchscherer has been remarkable for the A's. He has made eight starts and hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of them! Compare that to Robertson who has allowed 4+ in 9 of 11, and it is easy to see where the value lies in this one.

Game: New York Mets at San Francisco (3:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on San Francisco +112 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.4)

The Mets are a tease team. Just when you think they have collapsed, they put together some good games. Just when you think they have found it, they collapse again. The road has been unkind to the Mets as they sit well below .500. John Maine has not been the consistent pitcher he was last season for the Mets. They have now dropped each of his last three starts, where he sports a 6.19 ERA. The Giants Matt Cain has kept them in just about every game he has pitched. That is represented by the fact he has seven no-decisions in 12 starts. Cain has lowered his walk totals from 23 in his first six starts to just 12 in his last six and has showed signs of improvement. This is a good place for the Mets to fall with a struggling pitcher against a young maturing arm finding the strike zone.

Game: Cincinnati at Philadelphia (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Philadelphia -110 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

Edinson Volquez has some All-Star credentials at this point of the season and a lot of that has been done in front of the home crowd where he is a perfect 6-0. The numbers on the road show the Reds sitting at just 3-3 in his starts. Brett Myers has struggled at times as he is back to his starting role. He has been much improved of late as opponents have not topped four runs in any of his last three starts. The Phillies are getting scary at home as their big hitters are hitting big. The Reds really can't find answers away from home at 9-21, so the Phillies get the nod here.

Game: Baltimore at Minnesota (8:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Minnesota -107 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.8)

The Birds are 4-9 over their last 13 for one big reason. They have difficulty much of the time producing runs and the last 13 show them averaging just 3.6 a game. This output makes it very difficult to land in the win column, especially on the road. Sidney Ponson has found what he had lost over the past several seasons. The Twins have won five of his last seven starts while his ERA remains in the 3s - which is excellent these days in the AL. When the Twins gave up Santana, many felt they would slip to the basement, but here they are in June, only 1.5 games out of first and a real threat in the AL Central. Baltimore still hasn't learned to win on the road at 11-18 and we like the Twins at home here.

Game: Chicago at San Diego (10:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on San Diego +112 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.4)

The Cubs certainly have it going, but the full body of work says they are a sub-.500 road team. So as a favorite, you can certainly find value opposing them, which has been the case this year especially with Ted Lilly on the mound. Lilly has already been knocked out of games four times this season without completing five innings and his last three outings have him sitting on a 6+ ERA. Greg Maddux is remarkable. Many felt at 42 he is hanging on too long. His 3.69 ERA abondons those thoughts quickly, especially when you look down and see that he has walked just 12 all season - his control is precision. The Padres have been bad, but with Maddox on the mound they have won four of his last five starts. So as a dog at home, in a favorable pitching matchup, we will back the Padres here.

Results: 3-3
