Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: New York Yankees at Minnesota (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 9.5 -120 (risk 3 to win 2.5)
This is a Yankees lineup that has underachieved all season and already have played in 18 games where the offense has produced two runs or less. The road has not been the place for the offense to accumulate runs, and we don't expect things to change in this one. The Twins have already plated four or less runs in half their home games on the season as well. Pettitte has pitched in eight of 11 starts this season to UNDER this total, and Hernandez has allowed three or less in seven of 12 starts. We like this one to go UNDER the posted total.
Game: Cleveland at Texas (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Texas +126 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.8)
The Cleveland Indians are in dire straights. A team which was loaded with offense last year, is hitting just .234 as a team - more than 10 points lower than any other AL team. The last 11 on the road have produced just 27 runs or less than 2.5 per game. That makes it hard for any pitcher, including Aaron Laffey, to find the win column. Not too many pitchers with a 1.59 ERA own a 3-3 record, but the Indians simply can't score. The Rangers have found some magic as they have now gone 20-11 over a 31 game stretch, which includes six consecutive home series wins. Here we have hot vs cold and with a nice juicy dog, it's always worth a play.
Game: Cleveland at Texas (8:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Texas +1.5 runs -129 (runline) (risk 3 to win 2.3)
The Indians as we mentioned above are having so much trouble scoring that the +1.5 runline on the Rangers at home has some extreme value. Cleveland is 1-9 in their last ten on the road, and 0-10 if laying 1.5, so we will also play this one on the run line as well.
Game: New York Mets at San Francisco (10:15 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on San Francisco +106 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.2)
The Mets are coming off an impressive 5-2 homestand but this one is not at Shea. Away from home the Mets have dropped six of their last seven games. Oliver Perez has in no way resembled the pitcher that won 15 games last season. He has walked 41 in just 59 innings and finds himself in constant trouble and high pitch counts. He has also never beaten the Giants (0-4 5.83 ERA). Sanchez has shown some good signs in his last three starts as he has managed a 2.84 ERA locating much better. We have to think there is value with the Giants at home here vs a struggling pitcher and a Mets team with a sharp negative tilt on the road.
Results: 1-3
