Free Mlb Picks - June 01, 2008
We went 2-2 yesterday for a 0.1 unit loss. We're up nearly 79 units over the past three weeks. Today we have six picks in three games...
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Houston at Milwaukee (2:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Milwaukee -126 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.4)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 9.5 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)
Milwaukee goes for the sweep of the Astros and we like their chances of getting it in what should be a high-scoring affair. David Bush is 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA. Milwaukee averages just 4.2 runs per game overall but against RHP they get 4.4 and in 24 day games they have averaged 4.8 per contest. Shawn Chacon is just 6-25 on the road vs. NL teams averaging under 4.4 runs per game. Meanwhile Dave Bush is 14-2 the past three seasons at home vs. winning teams! While 34-14 to the UNDER in night games, Houston is 8-8 OVER-UNDER in day games. The Brew Crew are 100-73 OVER after and UNDER the past three seasons. Under Yost, this team is 60-42 OVER at home after a game in which they allowed under 3 runs. We like the Brewers and the OVER here.
Game: Cleveland at Kansas City (2:10 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Kansas City -120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.5)
Kansas City busted up their 12-game losing streak with a win yesterday. Can they get two in a row for the first time since mid-May? Yes! Let's not forget that Cleveland has had their own major struggles of late. They have lost 11 of their last 14 and send Paul Byrd to the mound. On the season he has a 6.93 road ERA. Opposing him is Brian Bannister who has posted a 2.68 ERA in five home games. Cleveland manages just 3.5 runs per game on the road on .229 hitting so don't expect Byrd to get a lot of run support. The Tribe is just 11-17 this season vs. losing teams. Yes, KC is very weak offensively but note that Byrd is just 1-7 the past three seasons on the road vs. low-scoring teams (those scoring under 4.3 runs per game). Meanwhile Bannister is 9-2 the past two seasons in day games. We like the Royals to make it two in a row.
Game: Pittsburgh at St. Louis (2:15 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on St. Louis -137 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.2)Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 9 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)
Pittsburgh upset the Cards yesterday thanks in part to a grand-slam by Luis Rivas. The Pirates embarrased the Cards at home in a 14-4 beat down. St. Louis will be out to atone for that loss as they get to beat up on Ian Snell. Snell is 2-4 with a 5.46 ERA and is off his worst start of the season in which he allowed seven runs in five innings to Cincinnati. On the road Snell has a sky-high 6.75 ERA this season. The Pirates are just 30-70 on the road vs. winning teams the past three seasons. This season they are 1-11 on the road after a win! The Cards are 17-11 UNDER in division games this season. The past two seasons they are 17-6 UNDER vs. starting pitchers who allow 7+ hits per start. They are also 17-6 UNDER this season after a game that went OVER. We'll back the Cards and the UNDER here.
Game: Pittsburgh at St. Louis (2:15 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on St. Louis -1.5 runs +155 (runline) (risk 3 to win 4.7)
We are also going to back St. Louis on the -1.5 run line as we like their chances at getting a 2+ run victory. The Pirates are 4-12 to the run line the past two seasons on the road after a game in which 15+ runs were scored. They are 27-34 over that span to the run line on the road vs. winning teams as well. We'll go for the nice pay out here on the Cards -1.5 runs as well.
Results: 5-1
