Free Baseball Pick - July 27, 2008

We hit only one yesterday. Today we have two picks...

Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Tampa Bay at Kansas City (2:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Tampa Bay -133 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 1.5)

While the Red Sox and Yankees beat on each other in Boston, the Rays sit atop the AL East and look to extend their lead with a win over Kansas City. Andy Sonnanstine gets the call. He's 5-2 in nine road starts this season for the Rays. He's facing a Royals offense that has mustered just 3.4 runs per game over their last seven games. The Rays are 41-22 this season as a favorite and 14-6 overall with Sonnanstine on the bump. KC is 28-44 vs. RHP this season and 21-37 off a loss. We like the Rays at this relatively short price.

Barry Zito started 2008 going 0-8 with a 6.25 ERA. But, in July he is undefeated in three starts and has posted a 3.50 ERA. This should be a low scoring game and it's not likely that Arizona can post a big win on the road against Zito. In expected low scoring games (total under 9), the D-Backs are just 7-15 to the runline on the road this season. We like San Francisco to keep this one close, if not win outright.
