Major League Baseball Pick - July 26, 2008We finished 2-1 yesterday for another MLB winner. Today we feature four MLB plays including two 4-unit picks. Today's MLB Baseball Picks: The Mariners are back at what they have done best this season and that is losing! The latest streak has reached six games, and with it, the dubious distinction of becoming the worst team in baseball. A bad team playing at its worst presents a good opportunity to play the runline. Specifically against a hot and cold team that has turned hot as the Jays have now won four straight themselves and 10 of 14. The M's have churned out even poorer performances on the road turning out a 34% win rate, so we will back the Jays to win comfortably here. Game: Texas at Oakland (4:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Oakland -1.5 runs +111 (runline) (risk 2 to win 2.2) Justin Duchscherer has the best ERA in all of baseball at an amazing 1.87. Over his last three starts he has been close to 1.5 runs a game. In 17 starts he has allowed more than six hits just once and has been consistent and impressive. Including what the A's pen has allowed, opponents have managed just 11 runs over his last seven starts or about 1.5 a game. It basically says if the A's find three runs this one has a good chance. If they find more, it is close to a certainty. We will play the A's on the runline, especially facing Matt Harrison who has pitched his last two games to teams scoring double digits each game. Game: San Diego at Pittsburgh (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Pittsburgh -1.5 runs +179 (runline) (risk 4 to win 7.2) No one has done a worse job on the road than the Padres this season as they enter this one with a 16-35 mark on the highway. Do you think teams feel a bit of resentment losing to them at home? The results may answer that as the Padres are 3-12 on the season in their next road game after winning one away. They have been outscored 74-41 in these 15 games, or by over two runs a game. They have been outscored by 70-26 in the 12 losses, or by almost four runs a game. The Pirates have been a very solid home team at 30-23 and should exercise a dose of revenge here. Game: Colorado at Cincinnati (7:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Cincinnati -1.5 runs +160 (runline) (risk 4 to win 6.4) The Reds have played better baseball of late as they have been 14-9 over their last 23. Colorado has fared much better of late as well, but their road mark is eye opening to say the least. The Rox are just 15-36 on the season including a 3-11 mark in their last 14. Jorge DeLaRosa hasn't exactly pitched them into many winning opportunities with a near seven ERA this season. The Rockies have been just 1-4 in his five road starts, with opponents scoring 42 runs in those five games. The Reds’ bats could have a field day in this one, so we will ride them on the runline here. Results: 1-3 MLB Baseball Picks Resources:
