BetPhoenix 100% Deposit Match! ![]() Today's MLB Baseball Picks: Paul Maholm was pitching to a 3.30 ERA through starts of May 20. He has since really struggled, and has been getting pounded. Maholm has allowed 54 hits in the 42 innings, along with 15 walks, and an ERA of 5.79. The Pirates have now lost his last three starts at home. Tim Redding hasn't fared very well in his eight starts for the Mets, but he has seen the Red Sox, Philadelphia, New York Yankees, St. Louis, and LA Dodgers in five of them. This Pirates’ lineup isn't nearly as potent, and the Mets do have a much better pen behind the starter and both pens should get a workout today, and it will be the difference maker for the Mets. I'll go with the Mets in this one.Game: New York Mets at Pittsburgh (12:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on New York Mets +1.5 runs -160 (runline) (risk 5 to win 3.1) Both starting pitchers have struggled to this point of the season, but Maholm has been the worst of the two, especially of late with an ERA in the sevens over his last three starts. I'm not giving Redding a pass here, but almost all of his starts were against teams that have big offenses, and such will not be the case in this one. I also like the fact that both pens should see a lot of action, and the Mets’ pen is much better equipped to take on an elongated task. I'll go with the Mets on the runline here. ![]() MLB Baseball Picks Resources:
